Hello I recently purchased an 04 Marauder with 106,000 miles on it & I love it but I am not familiar with these vehicles & how they sound. I am hearing what sounds like engine knocking noises when I start the car & the engine is cold. The noise is not as loud once the engine warms up. I am hoping to find some Marauder owners in the Austin Texas area that I could hook up with. I would love to see your vehicle & would love to hear it run so I can compare it t mine. Any help would be great plus I would love to know/meet other Marauder owners in the area. Thanks & have a Blessed Day...

Welcome to the machine...as for the noise, if its only during initial start up its probably normal.

Welcome aboard! Make plans now to attend Marauderville 11 in Atlanta 19-22 Sept.
I'm certain the MM peeps in your area will be more than happy to help you out. Did the previous owner maintain your car well? First thing I'd do is a tranny fluid exchange.
There are lots of little 'nuances' about our cars...the remedies/fix actions can be found on this site and/or told to you by the MMers in your area.
Congrats on your purchase and hope to meet you at MVXI!

Thanks for all of the input. I guess I will keep an eye on the noise & hope it's somewhat normal. I just don't like not knowing & waiting for something to fail. I took it to the dealer & they replaced the timing chain guides that were broken & that fixed one noise but the other noise is still present. Guess I will wait & see how it goes.

Welcome to the site - if you can make a YouTube clip of the motor running I am sure members on the site could help you a little better to maybe know what issues you may or may not have .

"Timing chain guides that were broke"... Did they change the oil and filter after? If not, I would take that oil filter out and cut it open to see if there's any tiny aluminum flakes.
