I was told troy products for the crown vic will fit on the Marauder

Got mine directly from Troy and the CV will work with our Rauders. Same set up (cut outs for access panel)
Money well spent & peace of mind.

So you install this so if someone removes the back up light all they get is this plate???

Correct & A LOT more time and work for a crook to get to the pull handle on the inside trunk lid.

You can also use the cover from a double-wide electrical box. That's what we use on the Sheriff's cars. Not nearly as thick as the Troy units, but cheaper.
The Troy trunk plates (and others) had threaded bosses on them for the screws. Otherwise, you'll have to mount them yourself.
