219,000 miles, the car looks like it has 10,000 miles. I have had it 3 weeks! Hammered down today and it wasn't what I wanted to hear. Will go to the wrench tomorrow for a prognosis. I want to stay stock, rebuild or reman?? Any feedback and price range would be welcome.

Not much info to go on here but could be the wrong grade of gas.

I would go with a reman -- if you can get one.

The noise is coming from the bottom end, most probably a rod. 6 to 65 hundred for an install of a reman. I'm gonna take a little time and think it thru. I am thinking for the moment on finding a low mile salvage without having to go thru a 2nd party and installing my self:help::help:

Yea if you go this way and do it yourself. You could keep it in the $6k range if you can get good deals on parts.

Ford Parts reman, 3yr warranty, $3995, jasper $4300, decent low mile salvage &2700 with me keeping old engine. With salvage you really have "0" guarantee no matter what they tell you. I have $5500 in the car as it sits, don't want to be out of the street value if for an unannounced need to sell. I'm in no hurry. Time will tell

You could go to svtperformance.com and look in the classifieds. Plenty of people with Cobras that built engines for a project and then decide to sell. You can get used Cobra motors or freshly built motors for cheaper than a reman, and the reman isn't even forged.

What I'm looking for is reliability and sale ability, as if I sold this to someone they would feel secure that the value and dependability of the car was what they paid for it. That's one thing I like about this forum, the majority are looking out for each others interest
