Ok, so the time has come to do the rear end on my 300A. When I bought the car, the snake, I mean the dealer, neglected to inform me that the rear end was cooked. Not even as in the clutches were gone. I mean cooked, like in the axel housing flange where the caliper bracket bolts up to is bent. And the clutches are cooked. :( So I have to replace the whole thing. I was going to do the SVT setup, but eventually I will be SuperCharging the car. So like the topic says "Do it right the first time!" I just wanted some feed back on how to go about this. Thanks!

If you want to upgrade, consider going to 31 spline axles.

Yep, 8.8 31 Spline Axels with Cobra Carbon Clutch Differential. 4:10 Gears with The Cobra Finned Differential Cover... Metco Control Arms And Watts Link... But my Question is " Is there a rear end that is already built, that I can just bolt in???

I'd hit the recycle yards for a complete rear out of a late model CV or GM. A Lincoln rear might also fit. They should already have the 31-spline axles. Personally, I'd replace the clutches, bearings and seals before I installed it. Also a good time to install 4.10's!

Ok, I looked into the Detroit Eaton Tru-Trac differentials. Now the guy I talked to said I had to remove the stock axels, measure them, use their chart and order the axels from Moser. Now if I'm going to go through all of that just for the 31 spline axels. Shouldn't I go with the 33 spline instead???

I do believe no one makes 33 splined axles and if they did you'd need a new carrier or at least new spider gears.

Eaton makes a new 33 Spline 8.8 Tru-Trac Part # 913A701 and Moser will make the axels with about a 2 week turn around....

Strange makes 33 spline axles for the 8.8, the only problem with the 33 splines is you have to use C clip eliminators as the Strange axles dont have C clip ends, not sure about the Mosers.

My apologies... should have done some research.
Unless your putting out some obscene amount of HP... like over 700 to the rear wheels the 31 splines will do you just fine.
If you are putting out over 700 HP then I'd get a custom 9" Ford rear end assembly built.
Isn't it not recommended to run "C" clip eliminator setup on a street vehicle?

Yep, I'm going to go with the 31 Spline setup. Moser Axels with the Detroit Tru-Trac w/girdle Cover. Talked it over with Motown last night. I was almost going to do a 9" but I would run into problems with the Watts Link.... Thanks for your input though.

Yep -back in the day the Z-man snapped a moser axle at the track.
Basically when he ordered them something happened and they did not add the abs ring onto them so they had to do some machine work and they cut a single groove on each axle. Well this then became the weak point as they were already hardened when they did this.
Z launched and the axle snapped. Contacted moser and they admitted there mistake and I believe sent him new axles. No problems since.
Make sure the axles you buy come with have the abs rings.

Ok, so Ford is officially out of the 8.8 Rear-Ends! Called around, found one for $750.00 but all I really want is the housing. And that's kind of steep for what I need. If anyone has one for like $450.00 Shipped, or has one local 33316 area. Please PM me thanks.

Moser Axles do not come with abs rings installed, however there is no machining needed to install the abs rings, just a small ball peen hammer and a little light tapping and they are seated, thats what i did.
I ordered the abs rings directly from Ford.

Ok, picked up a rear housing from Roy LPita. (Thanks Again Bud!) I took it all apart, going to finish cleaning this baby all up. Then I'm taking it to have it soda blasted. After that, it's getting shipped out to Mark Williams Enterprises to have the alignment checked, plus they're going to weld the axel tubes. Then I'm having them replace and fit the main bearing caps and do the mill work. As soon as I get it back its off to the powder coaters. Then the real fun begins. http://img.tapatalk.com/d/13/06/11/mu3u2yse.jpg
