Stem covers

Had the rear tires changed out and had them put in new stems. We couldn't get the stem covers off at the tire place so I took them home and fiddled with them til they were rendered garbage. Couldn't break the covers free from the old stems on either one.

So the question is this. The stem covers appear to be stainless not chrome. Would a local FLAPS stock SS or is it all Chinese chrome junk? Is the best place to get them from the dealer? Any idea on price from Ford?

My tire guys uses these I get new ones at every tire cahnge:

That's them but the OEMs don't look like chrome, unless mine are so old the sheen has gone away. They really look like SS.

I'll check out the local store to see what they got.

Been looking for these...does anyone else have a problem with the valve stem being different lengths. This drives me batty...The old style Bullet caps don't look right on the longer ones.

I noticed this too. I kept and old one and I'll try and match the length in the store. For future tire changes I'm going to get the pre-chromed stems and just use new ones when needed.

If you ask for them at a tire store, they will most likely charge an arm and a leg for them.

FLAPS carries them.

I've only had one tire place put them on. When I went with low profile tires with bigger rims on the LSC I think it was Goodyear put them on with no additional charge. But, ofcourse I'm sure they made it back on the tires I bought...
