Sup all, still new to the Marauder world, so go easy on me. I wanted to ask those who have the 295/45/18 tires on the rear without S/C's. Did you guys witness any loss or no difference in performance with these tires? Or was it for look wise?

Any big weight difference between the 295 555 Nitto and the 305 555R Nittos?

Trying to find something that's going to be able to hook good, whether on the streets or at the track. This isn't my DD so I'm not really worried about tire wear at the moment. Would have to do some good highway driving since the tracks are about an hour or two away.

Any suggestions would help.

Thanks

I've ran a couple different 305's and they all rubbed the shocks ever so slightly. Every car is different though. Seriously, two inches even X 2 isn't going to make that huge of a difference. Little less slip, very little, but looks great.

Well would 11.4lbs make a noticeable or big difference in performance? Like I said, I'm a newbie at this stuff.

I ran the 295s on stock and widened wheels, its a very worthwhile mod if you have widened wheels, on the stock 8" wheel its a tight fit!
If you have a roots style s/c it doesnt matter what tire you have, all the tq is down low and your going to blow the tires off anyway.

255/55-18 and 265/50-18 are nice upgrades for the rear tire. With 265/50-18 on the rear I recommend 255/45-18 on the front to retain the rake stance of the car.

I run 255x45's on the front, and 295x45's on the rear, all stock rims, lowered in the front, no rub, doesn't seem to be any difference in performance, but they are a little heavier what you give up in weight, you gain in traction, you need to keep in mind the UTOG ratings for traction, and wear.

Cons, more money, more weight, rubbing issues, people often size wheels wrong.
Pros, looks cooler, women like the beef, better traction (If you use the right one)

Facts, anything more than a 255 on a 8" wide wheel is, loosing footprint, horrible tread life, and increased vehicle sway/instability.

Pick the tire you want, then run the correct wheel. Not the other way around.

My first MM had 285/50/18's and they would wear like an SOB in the middle regardless of what tire pressure I ran them at. The outside 2 inches seriously always looked brand new. Same thing I see with mustang guys that put 315's on 9" wide wheels or 275's on 8"s.

Do you drive this car in winter (meaning snow)? If so, wider tires will be worse.

If not, then they should not affect performance to a great degree, just keep in mind that this motor is kinda deficient in the low-end, so you don't want to do anything to make it even moreso. 11.4 lb total additional weight is not significant on a street car.

Just do the club a favour and don't do this:
