View Full Version : Intermittent Temperature Spikes

For the past couple of months, I have been getting occasional spikes on my temperature gauge. Maybe once a week or so. For seemingly no reason, I will notice the temp gauge goes up a lot higher than normal, but not into the red zone. After a minute or so, it drops back down pretty quickly.
Dealer checked it out when I was in for an oil change, and found nothing wrong. Obviously something is going on, but what?

Happened to me recently. I replaced to thermostat and had the cooling system "bled" out and it hasn't don't it since then.

You could have a T-stat going down or air in your system or both.

Have the cooling system serviced by a competent mod motor shop.

My temp went up (about halfway between normal and red) when the front of the car was higher than the rear on an incline. Returned to normal when level. Had the cooling system burped, they added 1/4 gallon of antifreeze..no problem since.

Dealer checked it out when I was in for an oil change, and found nothing wrong. Big surprise :shake: ...

Agree w/them up there ^^^...bad thermostat or air in the system.
