I recently had my motor rebuilt through a shop that is owned by my friends friend. I got a good deal on the rebuilt.

But now.. The cam cover on the driver side is letting out the tapping you usually hear when you first start the car cold. it slowly got constant and pretty loud at one point in the middle of the day. I filled it with non synthetic 5-20, and a motocraft filter.

I'm wondering if its not getting proper oil pressure or what, when its cold it makes no noise, only when the car is at operating heat.

I'd take it straight back to the guy who rebuilt it quick like!

Sounds like it's the head, how is the temperature gauge reading? Did you burp the cooling system?

Did he add a rear cooling kit?

I burped the system, when i take the crossover cap off, its up to the top...

I pulled the motor and took it to him myself. Temp gauge is right in the middle.

You got a "good deal" on a rebuild? What exactly was reused and what was "rebuilt"? What was originally wrong with the engine?

Could be a runner! They clean it, paint it and it runs. Maybe some STP honey and leak stop.

Comon guys, lets not rub it in...

The crank was shot, and one of the rod bearings spun.
