How to tell if a fog light is bad like blown or burnt out or a wire or fuse issue??

2 weeks ago turned them on and worked fine than an hr later just one was working .

Which one is out?

I had a similar problem recently. I thought it was a burned out bulb but it turned out that the little 90* connector piece that attaches the harness to the actual bulb had corroded enough to prevent current from flowing into the bulb. I sanded down the metal tabs on the bulb side of the connector as best as I could then put a glob of dielectric grease inside then reinstalled the bulb.

Step 1: Check the bulb itself. A burned out bulb will literally looked burned and will have the faintest rattling sound when shaken next to your ear. That rattling is the broken filament moving around inside the glass.

Step 2: If you can't hear anything and bulb still has a slightly burned appearance, test it on the working side foglight.

Step 3: If it works on the opposite side, check connector for corrosion. If corroded, sand metal contacts, apply dielectric grease and try again

Step 4: If any of the above steps do not work, I would inspect the harness. IIRC they have a tendency to wear out on the drivers side.

Wiring harnesses don't wear out unless they are rubbing on something.

I'd check if there was power to the bulb, if not start checking back thru the connectors and harnesses.

By all means do # 1 & 3. I have seen corrosion in the sockets.

I has also noticed the ground wire in the harness(s) are corroded. You may have to replace the wire.

If you need sockets and or bulbs I have them. I can also rebuild the harness(s).

i had one with a bad socket, it drove me nuts till i figured it out. atleast its the driver's side, its easy to access through the wheel well.

Taking the wheel off helps too, but isn't necessary
