Anyone have one on the shelf they'd be willing to part with?

I understand the gas tank bib and why they are used..but I don't like my gas cap dangling by a thread so every car I have had that has the tether on the gas cap gets trimmed off. And no, I have not left my gas cap on the pump either. i started it in 1995 when my truck came with tethered gas caps..snip snip..gas cap vasectomy.

Funny. I don't understand why you wouldn't want the tether. I'm afraid I'm going to lose the cap or drop and break it.

Tether is perfect to let the cap scratch the car ... :(

YEP!

Or I am more along the lines of removing the tether... Its not hard to make sure you don't forget the cap!

I BOUGHT A PACKAGE OF THE RED SHOP TOWELLS, AND THE FIRST THING i DID WAS TO NEATLY ROLL ONE UP AND PUT IT INTO THE TOP OF THE GAS FILLER COMPARTMENT.

Sorry about the caps... when I open the gas door, I simply pull out the roll and use it to keep the gas lid from the paint. the roll fits perfectly inder the "wire" and the cap kind of "holds" in in place. It has NEVER fallen on ground, and at one pump which did not automatically stop and gas shot out after filling--it actually stopped all drips from hitting paint.

It was an accident that I tried it originally--- but it worked the very first time i did, and every single time sice... as I too could NOT STAND the cap touching my paint.

i have a locking gas cap that I am unable to keep tethered. So when I fill up, the cap gets unlocked and I place it on top of the pump. No issues. Bib would be cool so i don't dribble. Brad if you make one, make me one too. kthxyby

I have Ford's locking gas cap with tether issues. I had the gas bib twice. They rotted away.
