Ok guys Im not the guy that was born with a wrench in his hand........... But I wanted to know is it easy to change a water pump and pulley? and if so how easy? any thing well help me before I try this on saturday!!! Thanks

It's messy, but, easy. Drain as much coolant as you can. Before you even loosen the tensioner to take the belt off, break the four bolts on the water pump pulley loose just a hair.

drain coolant from petlock first

then remove 4 bolts holding on the pump wheel - pull radiator shroud if you need more room.

Then remove belt.

then remove bolts that hold in - pump pull it straight out.

I hope you are replacing it with an EMP Stewart water pump - better than OEM. light coat of lube on pump o-ring...

Flollow reische refill and burp procedure!

There are lots of threads on this howto. Blackened300a did a good writeup.

My daughter and I put a water pump on her 4.6 Couger in 30 min. And then spent 2 hours changing the oil filter. EZ stuff, just don't change the oil.

Thanks guys for all your help, just one last question....... Where can I get the water pump pulley and water pump from?? I have found lots of water pumps but not sure of which pully I need.

You reuse the old pulley... they do not go bad. There are 2 different water pumps... a short neck and a long neck.

This is the correct (better than OEM) pump. (read: get this one)
