Does anyone have the Escape/Mariner Audiophile headunit and hooked up an I-pod connection to it without using an FM transmitter?

Would these work if the Escape radio was used in our MM?

I don't see why not since the Escape radio is a direct replacement for the stock MM unit.

The reason I ask is a member here wants to buy the audiophile unit I have, he current has a CD-charger ipod interface unit. We are trying to figure out whether that function will still retain if he puts in the audiophile unit.

I'd assume that it worked with the stock MM radio it will work with the Escape unit since everyone says the Escape unit is a direct replacement for the stock MM radio.

I went with an aftermarket headunit after my sock unit crapped out.

I used an adapter like those above in my sisters '05 Escape with the Mach audio system. At first I installed on that enabled control of the ipod thru the radio and showed the song info in the display, but she didn't like it...hard to use. So then I installed an adapter than gave you a 1/8" headphone jack to plug the ipod into which was a dircect plug in not thru the FM. I think you press the AUX button to hear the ipod.

That was my thinking as well but the issue at hand is whether an "alike" interface piece meant for the Marauder (replaced the cd-changer) will work on the Escape radio.

I thought you had to give up the cd changer with the Audiophile? Also, I had to have PIE send me a new microchip for my old adaptor to work with the newer head unit.

That took some persuading as they normally don't offer that so, shhhhh. :)

That is correct... don't need the changer in the trunk since the Escape unit has a 6 CD changer in the headunit.

What kind of adaptor did you use? I don't own any Apple-related product so I am interested in a direct plug (1/8" headphone jack) into my Samsung Galaxy S4.

Check with P.I.E. for an adapter.

I sent you the link of one that will work with the Audiophile radio in a PM a while ago.

Success !!! it wasn't deleted!

From what I can figure out to work with the MM having the Escape in-dash audiophile unit would be this adapter http://www.oemautosound.com/pc-211-8...at-button.aspx (http://www.oemautosound.com/pc-211-86-frd03-auxs-ford-lincoln-mercury-input-adapter-sat-button.aspx)

And you would need these RCA to 3.5mm wires
http://www.oemautosound.com/pc-351-8...aux-input.aspx (http://www.oemautosound.com/pc-351-86-rca-jack-to-35mm-stereo-plug-aux-input.aspx)

This is something you do not need to get right away as installing them is easy and straight forward (something you can do at home) you'll just need the radio removal tools or 4 pieces of a metal clothes hanger, plug everything in and run the 3.5mm cable.

The one on the link I sent you seems to be the only site that has either in stock since it is out of stock almost every site I checked.

I up graded the Marauder with the 06-07 Escape Hybrid radio model 6L8T-18C815-FD.

I want to add an aux input to the radio. I have tried the Pie FRDN-AUX/S (plugs do not fit, Pie told me this unit would work with the correct harness)

I also tried the iSimple ISFD531 (plugs fit, unit was not recognized by my radio, was told that this is for the newer generation radios).

Please let me know what models are known to work, the links in the IM above did not lead to anything that made sense to me.

Thanks

Bill

What kind of aux are you looking for?
Apple product (ipod/iphone), Android phone, or mp3 player?

Mini cut......Mp3 player with the escape unit.....PIE doesn't sell any of the models that worked before.

Would the USA SPEC DF-FORD1 adapter work with the Escape unit?

Bluetooth interface, but I can work that with just an 1/8 aux in jack. Must be music capable (A2DP), but again a 1/8 jack would be fine.

For those following this thread...

I could not find a direct plug-in for our Audiophile upgraded units. I purchased an iSimple Tranzit BLU for my Android phone, it is an in-line FM modulator with bluetooth input. Two wire hookup, and plugs directly into the antenna port.

Works fine, audio quality is fair.
