So I need to get my Trans rebuilt. I'm thinking of just getting it more heavy duty. Is there any kits out there that are heavy duty and I can rebuilt it with? Or what Trans do you guys recommend? Anyone selling one? Also what torque converter do you guys suggest I go with also? Let me know I wanna get on this ASAP :) thanks guys

Put it together wth an art carr kit, an a trippledisc pi torque converter
That will handle 700 horsepower easily
and you will be real happy for years to come

I'm thinking of a better trans cooler and deep pan for longer life

What exactly is wrong with the current trans?

Would definitely do this after the rebuild.

They told me something with the cable body and it feels like its in 3 and 4 th gear where I get a stutter and lack of power when I floor it. Also it gets worse when it gets hotter or driven for longer time converter is taking a beating to I bough my mm with 28k miles so those 28k miles I don't know how it was treated u know lol

Have you checked the fluid level?

Have you ever had the tranny serviced?

That's what I'm thinking, too.

Simple preventive maintenance may take care of the issues.

I'd start with a fluid change first, tranny rebuilds aren't cheap.

Jut have it sucked out, do the filter and refill with new Mercon. You may be pleasantly surprised at the difference.

NO additives!^^^This.

All those additives do is transfer money from your wallet to theirs.

Except for FORD "Friction Modifier" Bob!!

It is the same additive used in the Mercon V and he could simply add one 4 ounce bottle to see if it fixes it instead of the expensive flush!!

It works for trans and TC shudder 100% of the time in 10 miles or less!!

I have used it since the mid 90's when the fluid was not so good......still use it in the MM every time I change the pan fluid!!;)

My $0.02 FWIW!!:D

Sorry, 'jack, I can't agree this time. If the fluid is fresh, there's no need for additives and if the fluid is worn out, changing it is the better alternative.

I suppose if adding a bottle of XL-3 improves the condition, he would then know the fluid is worn out and that a complete exchange would be warranted. If it didn't help, then he's only out a few dollars.

I taught the friction modifier additive was only for rear end services? So I can add this to my trans as well? How many should I put if I do the full service with fluid getting sucked out?

Marauderjack

None after a flush unless you experience shudder......which indicates the depletion of this additive!! You should be good to go with just the flush!!

The point here is if you add one 4 ounce bottle to your old fluid and it fixes it you should simply do the flush.....if it does not fix it you need trans work done but have not spent but $5.00 instead of $100.00+ for the flush!! Give it a whirl but DO NOT spill any of the Friction Modifier......it stinks for a looooong time!!:shake:

I add 4 ounces every time I change the fluid in the pan....every 30K miles or so.....preventive maintenance so to speak!!

Good Luck!!

So I just got my Trans serviced sucked out the fluid put new filter oem and new Mercon v and no luck guys :/ it's still doing it you think I should still try the friction modifier?

Adding a 4 oz. bottle won't hurt a thing......give it a whirl and you may just be surprised!!;)

If that and the flush don't work it's something other than glazed clutches!!

Good Luck!!

Hey folks::help: Don't mean to Hijack the thread but I am having similar issues, Where can I find this Friction Modifier?, Is it strictly a Ford thing or can I go to the local Auto Parts Store and pick it up, does it have a name or is it just called "Friction Modifier"?
Thanks:beer:
Rick

The Ford product is the best Rick......stinks to high heaven so don't spill a drop!!

It's about $5.00 at the Ford parts counter....just as for "Stink Juice" and they will ALL know what you want!!

You are correct.

If the engineers at Ford would have wanted you to use FM in the transmission they would specify that in their transmission service.

They did years ago Jim......I have used it ever since with great results.....won't hurt a thing and works for shudder every time!!

So I was thinking of going with the 4r75w on my 03 mm they've told me that all you need is a tune so it can understand each other once installed bit I was talking to a Trans guy and told me that the 4r75w has an extra sensor which the 4r70w does not have? Is this true? If so then I can't put it on my mm because I wouldn't have that extra connector on my harness would I?
