there is a step by step in there somewhere and you can rent the couple of specialty tools from most chain auto parts stores

What special tools?
You'll need these in addition to normal hand tools:
Gear oil 75w 140 and friction modifier if your not going to use synthetic
Silicone gasket maker
Parking brake shoes and hardware because you may need to replace them.

You'll need these along with a slide hammer to get the bearing in and out. Fairly cheap at Harbor Freight, or you can probably borrow them at AutoZone or a similar parts house.

Changing the bearing might be a good idea while the axles are out.
They now have puller setups for removing bearing. Most of them come right out with a slide hammer but I did an old one a year or so ago and it was hell. The puller would have been nice.
Tooltopia.com has some nice tools at reasonable prices.
