One what is your guys opinion of oil catch cans? Do they work are they worthy and are they pretty simple to install?

I am thinking of aftermarket fuel rails simply for the look when I do my eaton and I am curious how to know if the ones I am seeing on some forums will work?

Catch Cans do what they say they will do.

Weather or not it needs to be done is another story.

Mine definitely catches oil, glad I've got it.

Stock fuel rails don't look bad, IMO, and they're plenty adequate unless you're planning to make huge HP.

This is the catch can I installed

This is what came out after about 1000 miles. Maybe 2 - 3 ounces.

I have yet to pay any attention to milage. I've only emptied it once so far I think I installed it last fall. So there are not too many miles on it. Perhaps I'll check it later today, clean it out and watch the milage and check back.

I know some will say its too small. But these little JLTs have a really nice mesh screen and are also used on the Shelby 1000.

So if it's good for a Shelby. It's has to be good for my Merc right;)

From the factory?

Yeah man. They use one on each side on the 1000 model. I was a little surprised.

OK. I've been trying to figure out by reading what catch cans are, why you need them and what they do. A little confused. Are they just for SC'd cars? With mine being NA, do I need them? Or in my case is it a want and would it be worth it? Oh and exactly where do they catch oil from?

Here's a good explaination:

Are they "worth it" is a pretty subjective question, and will get you a variety of responses here, both pro and con.

Here's mine: I got one and I like it... ;)

If you install one it won't cause any problems.

Take the lid off of a Marauder motor (or any modular motor) with no catch can and tell me what you see?? more than likely an oil slick inside the intake!

If you want to go through American Muscle, go with one of their catch can offerings.

I would say buy the 03-04 Cobra JLT catch can. It does have the mesh screen. I think Spartas catch can may have the mesh screen too. Call Tommy at Sparta and ask him if his catch can has the screen.

JLT's mesh.
