Fap fap fap.... Love the chrome!!!! Two of my wheels have little flaws that will be fixed by Turbax. Two are going to be widened. I may have chrome done since they're dismounted anyway!

It's not the pvd itself rog it's the plant they use. U.S. wheel (they own the permachrome trademark name) uses a plant in ohio. Detroit wheel uses a place I think in Indiana. And I there is a place in Cali. And I have no knowledge of how the cali plant performs.

All I know is if I do another set it will be Detroit wheel all the way. It was done when they said on time and perfect results out of the box. Believe it or not I gave them my WORST 4 wheels. They turned out great:beer:

Well after something that should have taken about 10 days to do turned in to two months I have to say it was worth the wait. I had taken my wheels to U.S. Wheel (Permachrome) as they have a better warranty than Detroit Wheel.
Round one, U.S. Wheel sent my wheels to the PVD plant in Ohio. After waiting the 10 days I find out that the plant in Ohio had installed some new equipment and were having difficulties getting it dialed in. They had ran my wheels through but were sending them through again due to a poor finish.
Wheels returned to U.S. Wheel with some explanation there are impurities in the aluminum and creating a situation that will not allow for a good finish, but Ohio sent them back anyway. Jerry and I went to inspect after being told of the problem and to say the least the finish junk, blisters and debris in the finish.
Round 2. After some back and forth U.S. Wheel agreed to send them to the plant in Indiana with the understanding that if the wheels came back in the same shape we would strip them down again and polish and clearcoat.
It turns out the plant in Indiana, which by the way does the majority of the OEM wheels in this process, adds a step which seals the wheels prior to the PVD process. I am very happy with the wheels that were returned from Indiana, in my opinion they are of show quality.
All in all I do not fault U.S. Wheel at all, if anything the plant in Ohio for rambling off some B.S. instead of explaining that there processing is less than adequate. Eric at U.S. Wheel sent pictures of the wheels returned from Indiana and all we got in response was more B.S.
Would I use U.S. Wheel again? Without hesitation, a salesman is only as good as the information that is given to him. I would have no hesitation in using Detroit Wheel either after having seen their operation.
My recommendation if you choose to PVD, insist on the Indiana plant. I have no experience with the plant in California so perhaps someone chime in on experience with them.
