I have a 2003 Town Car and placed a Marauder Air Box, MAF and a CV air intake tube on the car then had it tuned by a shop very skilled at mustang tunes. The car accelerated slower after the tune. I also had check engine codes after the tune (too lean). I think the 80mm MAF was the root of the problems so I connected the stock 70mm MAF and lid in place of the 80mm MAF and just used tape as a reducer and the car accelerated much better. I then swapped the 70mm MAF into the 80mm housing and lost performance.

The 80mm MAF always causes 3 check engine codes.
The 70mm MAF works best in the 70mm housing with the MM air box and 80mm tube. (tape used to close gaps for testing)
The 70mm housing will not bolt to the Marauder air box.
The 70mm housing will not interface to the air intake tube without using a reducer.

What is the best solution to a permanent fix?

OK I have found that Each sensor/sampling tube is matched to the size housing its in so what I could use if if someone knows if there is a airbox lid that is the same hinge style as the Marauder with a 70mm MAF. The 2004+ PI has the 80mm.

I think this answered all my questions. What I want to do will have to be custom or I need a better tuner. I sent a message to Darrin since he did a great tune for me in the past.
