Be on the look out for the Black Bomber heading south on I-95 from MD to FL on March 31st. Our destination ... Dennis Reinhart's!! We will be getting a few mods done to our car, including the level 2 tranny kit, exhaust, engine coolant kit, PI 3000 stall torque converter, dyno tuned and any other magic tricks up Dennis' sleeve.

Our plans are to leave Dennis on Saturday, April 3rd (time unknown as of yet)to start heading north up I-95. If the weather and timing permits, we are planning to cut across South Carolina on I-26 to Columbia then take I-77 thru North Carolina into Virginia and then take I-81 home. The scenic route.

If any of you Southern Marauders (GA, FL and the Carolinas) would like to get together, we would love to meet you.

Well, let me be the first to welcome you through the Carolinas--your home route is a nice trip--have taken it many times ...you will like it , providing of course the weather coorporates.. I will check our club calender and let you know what and whose available --hopefully for a meet ....Take Care.......Tom

Ladyhawke,

I'll be here to flag you through Virginia -- you'll pass within a mile of me at work. Might be too early into your trip for a break -- but there's an IHOP at Exit 143B, I-95 South if you'd care to meet up for a quick pause.

Take care on I-95S -- and keep an eye out for the Virginia State Police "slick top" Impalas -- they are quite difficult to spot and I run the route every day. Hope you have good weather for the trip up I-81 ... very nice scenery but some very heavy truck traffic. The good thing is that they generally stay in the right lane with the slower traffic.

We don't know when we will be leaving yet, but we can try to meet up for a short break. How far are you from DC?

Sounds good Tom! Let Haggis know when you might be available.

It's about 35-40 miles south of DC just past Quantico Marine Corps Base. Exit 143B, Route 610 Garrisonville Road westbound. IHOP is west, 3rd light, about .75 miles on the right.

Let me know your timetable.

Ladyhawke and I are taking the BLACK BOMBER to vist Dennis so he work some of his "Magic" on the car. We will be leaving on the 31st of March and will be driving straight through to Jacksonville and should arrive sometime late that evening.

If anybody would like to hook up and get together while we are down there, we will be staying at the Hampton Inn, about 6 miles from Dennis' shop, from Wednesday night the 31st until Saturday morning April 3rd. Hopefully Dennis will be finished by then and we can start our long journey home.

If you are interested in hooking up send me a PM and I can send you our cell number. On the way back we are arranging to meet up with MarauderChick in Columbia, SC and with Marauderman in Charlotte. We are taking the scenic route home through the mountains and up I-81.

So all you Georgia, Flordia, and Carolina Marauders roll out the Welcome Mat for Haggis and his better half, Ladyhawke, will be a Maraudering on a highway near you. :burnout:

Well looks like there is a slight change in our plans. We will be leaving late this evening to avoid rush hour traffic around D.C. tomorrow morning. We will stop off in Richmond for the night and leave early Wednesday to continue our trip to Jacksonville. Will arrive sometime Wednesday and drop the car off at Dennis' early Thursday morning.

I know Dennis will do a good job on our car and I would like to thank those people who gave advice to help me make this decision. I can't wait to hear her and drive her when Dennis is done.

Still plan on meeting up with those that showed interest in getting together, even though with some it is doubtful. Will keep in contact and let everyone know how it goes through this Thread.

WhooHoo, I'm so excited I can't wait to get off of work and get the car pack to start the drive down.

Haggis and Ladyhawke,

Have a safe trip down and back. Your revised timing will probably prevent a link-up here. I look forward to reading your adventures and hearing about the mods upon your return. Take the rest of the day off and get packing ....:)

The BLACK BOMBER has been with Dennis since yesterday and tomorrow we get it back with his cool magic mods. Not sure if we need all that extra horsepower, after all Haggis already knows how to let the tires get loose. But that's another story. :D Although Haggis has been sick since we got here, we did get to go to St. Augustine yesterday. And today was a day of rest. On the way home, we hope to meet up with a few of our Southern members.

Well it is Monday afternoon and I am still feeling quite sick. Woke up with a massive headache, but enough of that for now. Back to what this thread is about.

Arrived in Jacksonville Wednesday evening and planned on bringing the car down to Dennis when he opened the shop Thursday morning. Well we were about an hour late. First due to the fact we could not find the turn off off of Blanding road. I pulled into a car wash to try and call Dennis, could not reach him phone keeps ringing. So I decide to spray the car off to get rid of the bugs stuck to the front and get the road dirt off. Try calling Dennis again this time I get through he gives directions, cool and we are off. For those of you who know the area or have been down to see Dennis, Blanding road is very busy any time of the day and trying to cross it is risk and depends on timing.

I finally get a break in traffic after waiting 5 mins to cross, seemed like a life time, as I cross the north bound lanes to get into the south bound lanes the stop light drops and the cars are starting to speed up. I give the Black Bomber a little more gas to be able to make it and the, wet, tires break loose and the car starts to fish tail I turn the wheel to get out of it and it fish tails the other way, again turn into the spin and that's it were doing a 360 into on coming traffic. Cars, Pick-ups even a 18 wheeler screeching tires to stop. I thought it was all over for Chris and I and the Black Bomber. Luckily the only thing that happened is that I lightly kissed the median with the rear tire. Also luckily no one else had an accident, everyone was able to walk away from it with no damage. Well almost!

Shooken up I pulled into a Sonic's (fast food) parking lot to make sure Chris is ok, check the car over and to relax. I walk out to the street to make sure everyone else is ok. This grumpy old man in a Ricer starts yelling "What you trying to prove" and all that BS. I tell him nothing and explain that the tires broke loose and apologize. He grumbes something else and drives off. This other guy with a Dodge pick-up ( the well almost!) says his brand new truck is not sitting right, he had to go up onto the curp to miss us. We talk he asks for my information, telephone number and License. I give it to him, was that a mistake?? He called our house on Thursday afternoon and left a message, while we were still in Jacksonville. He says his alignment is out and wants me to call him back, any advice??

This post is starting to get longer then what I had intended. I will start a new one explaining what mods Dennis did to the Black Bomber and how happy both Ladyhawke and I are with them.

Thanks again Dennis!!

You're a regular menace on the highways. Dale Earnhardt Jr. got fined and lost points for a similar move a week ago. :nono:

In all seriousness -- Glad that you and Ladyhawke came through this one OK and that no real damage or injury occurred. BTW -- who drove home??

Well after the incredible 360 manuver that I pulled on a busy road with on coming traffic. Chris drove because I was a little shaken. Due to the fact not only could I have lost my wonderful wife I could have lost #8 (The Black Bomber). But for the drive home all was fine even though I was and still am fighting this cold. I got to drive when I was able to wrestle the keys away from Chris!

Glad you're all right man! If I have to wait more than 3 minutes I turn right and bust a U or use a light with advanced green to get where I'm going.

I don't quite have the balls you do...and I'm not sure I would have been able to control the car under those circumstances.

Glad it's cool...Chris isn't admitting by being hard about giving back the keys that your car is better than her's?;)

Thanks James and Charlie.

We had made plans to meet with some of our fellow Marauder Owners while we were on our way home. Kathy, James, Carlos and Tom, due to time constrants we could not make any of them. I would like to apologize to those members after I had twisted and pulled their arms to arrange different times to meet. We could still not make it and in the end I had to cancel with them all, maybe next time. If anyone is in the D.C. area feel free to call or PM and we will be more then willing to arrange a meet.

The main reason for this trip was to have Dennis tweak and bullet proof my car. Mission accomplished!! I would also like to state that Dennis, Lonnie, Arutur and Gantz (sp?) Busted their tails to get it done and us out of there at a reasonible hour on Saturday. If it wasn't for the car giving Dennis fits trying to tune it, he would get so close and then something would happen and he would have to start back at scratch. Dennis would not give up, he tried and tried, but that stupid spike in the AF ratio would always come back to haunt him. In the end, after 6 hours and at least 12 pulls on the dyno he went back to the stock program and the Kenny Brown chip. With a hot engine the car came off the dyno with 410rwhp and 361rwtq. He told me that had the engine been cooler the numbers would have been higher, possible around 430rwhp.

I would like to give my sincere gratitude for all the hard work and overtime Dennis, Lonnie, Artur and Gantz (sp?) did. I am more than pleased with the work they did and it was well worth the trip. The Black Bomber performed flawlessly on the long drive home we barely went under 65mph the whole way. Keep an eye on my signature with the listing of the upgraded mods.

Glad you are happy with your new mods and I'm really sorry that I didn't have the pleasure of meeting you and Chris!! There is always Indy!!

THAT'S IT!!!! My planned trip to W. Palm to see my Aunt was cancled, and I told my parents we always do the same damn thing...North Carolina. Don't get me wrong, great state, but there are 49 others and Puerto Rico that I'm ready to see! So they said if I can come up with something else...that I could go...

Indy! Ok...details details! First, I'll need a crap load of money! As long as I can get a good chunk, my parents will help me out!
