Are your O2 sensors 10 years old? This could be the reason.

Me????? Yes, 10 years old, both of them, I think it may have to do with the application of WOT...............:D

well the rear 02 are switching so that means there working but they need to be almost flat line so that tells me that cats are not doing there job

Or the front ones are really old and not working well. SW cats are easy to remove and take a peak. If the honeycomb is all there then they are fine. I can't think you've had them that long (how long?)

If you take very short trips and drive really gently the cats won't get up to temperature and won't work very well. (throw codes)

After 10 years and 80-100K miles the primary O2's (front) should be replaced, IMHO. Good Luck, if it is the SW cats gone bad they will take care of you.

Paul,

You already took care of me last year when I had my problem. If they go south again, I'll probably just delete them.

Both SW and Kooks cats are border line, they usually last 6 months and there done, poor quality......Kooks has since upgraded to stainless steel mesh design which are 100 times better......

Where is the fiber packing that holds the media in place and acts as a shock absorber??

Every catalytic converter I have seen has some fiberglass (?) filler around the media!!

Just FYI, for over 1.5 years now we have changed our converters to a proprietary 200 cell metal matrix design, much improved over the 400 cell design most manufacturers where using around the same time. This new design works very well with forced induction applications. Also keep in mind these are considered aftermarket converters and considering the cost of replacement OE type converters, these are a great deal!

I switched to MBS 100 cell cats & have had 0 issues. Although they likely wouldn' bet strong enough to lower emissions very much considering you cannot basically see rt thru them.
