I have the "starter kit" - Intensive Polish PO 91 E (2000) (on a Lake Country Orange "Light Cut" pad) and Final Finish PO 85 U (3000) (on a Lake Country White "Polishing" pad). Random Orbital Polisher.
I've never used any of this stuff before. I did the Intensive Polish today, and I have a few questions.
I don't know if I'm working it long enough. Should you stop as soon as it turns clear, or should you keep going ? The Intensive Polish seems to turn clear after very few passes.
I feel like I might be using too much. How many Marauder-sized, full-car applications should you get from a quart bottle ?
It seems oily. Do you wipe it down with alcohol / water, or a damp rag, or what ?
If I did a less-than-perfect job with the Intensive Polish, I would think that the Final Finish will straighted it out ?
Any tips ?

Menzerna says that the polishes are "self-refining," meaning that they are more aggressive at first, and then the abrasives slowly break down and become finer, as it turns clear.
I take this to mean that if you don't work them long enough and give them a chance to break down, they won't reach their final grit, - vs - if you work them too long, there's nothing left and you're not accomplishing anything, and possibly screwing it up.
I'm having a hard time judging where the sweet spot for this stuff is because, in practice, no matter what I do it looks so much better that I can't really tell.

Perhaps you should practice on the wife's car first :D

I am a big fan of Menzerna polishes.
IP - Intensive Polish is a diminishing polish in that it "breaks down" as you work it,
Normally 4-8 minutes before it breaks down.
I like to spray my pad with a light mist of QD (quick detailer) before applying an X of polish to the pad, then work it for about 3-4 minutes, I will then turn off the machine, lift the pad and give it another light mist and work it more.
You can tell when the polish has finished breaking down or "flashed" when it becomes clear and the shine begins to come through.
I started a video last fall just before all the family illnesses, I hope to continue it before too long.
As far as wipedown most people like an Isopropyl/water mixture but with Menzerna products I prefer Mineral Spirits to cut the oils.
Do yourself a favor if you haven't. TAPE OFF ALL THE SEAMS AND CRACKS!!!

Stand by and I'll put up the 1st few clips.
I went over it with the Final Finish / LC white pad today. It seemed A LOT easier than the Intensive Polish / orange pad. I used about half as much as I had been using per section, and worked it for much longer, until it was as thin and clear as salad oil. It went a lot better, and it seems to have straightened out the Intensive Polish, because it came out really nice.
I taped it yesterday, so that was fine. I was wiping it down after each section with alcohol / water, but after a while I just left it and washed the whole car after because I started to run short on time.
I'm sorry to hear about the illness, I hope everyone is o.k. I'd be interested in seeing the videos.

:agree: Menzerna is a great line of polishes. If you want to jewel the finish with a black pad PM me with mailing info and I'll send you some PO85RD (4500) or the 4000 depending on what I have available. Very important to get all the oils removed before sealant or wax. Autogeek has several cleaners made for just that purpose. Make sure that you are using a quality towel at this point, no sense adding scratches after all the work.
