View Full Version : Anyone Else Having a Hard Time After Carlisle ??
Bluerauder
06-11-2013, 04:11 AM
After all of the months of anticipation and the terrific activities at Carlisle capped with the largest turnout of Marauders, I am having an especially difficult time this week adjusting to normal work duties. I just can't seem to come down off the high that I got hanging with friends and family up on Marauder Mountain and seeing old friends, making new ones and just enjoying all of the variations of MMs in Marauderland.
This event has grown to proportions that I think even surprises the Carlisle Event staff. The MM presence on the showfield is highly evident and our position on the Hill means that everyone, everywhere can see us from anywhere on the showfield or in the grandstands.
Gotta go back to work again today ..... but I am still reliving and thinking about 2013 Carlisle "All Fords" Weekend and already looking forward to 2014.
Thanks Paul/Blackened300a for all of your efforts. You ARE the Carlisle Man and your energy and time are the primary reason behind the great turnout and extremely well-organized showing at Carlisle each and every year. :2thumbs:

I am. Came to work yesterday, worked 12 hrs straight and was wishing the whole time that it was still Saturday :bigcry:.
Had so much fun and it was so nice to meet some new members like Uncle and Aunt Dammit, JFlave, Tricia (Mrs. 05CrownSport) and the UPOA members! It was nice to see everyone together, having a good time. I just wish there was more time to spend with everyone.
Mr. Carlisle, I mean Paul :D, was already talking about next year's plans on the way home!
Looking forward to Carlisle 2014 up on Marauder Mountain!

I had a great time as well... Although once again Gary Sr & myself only came down with my 01 Qvale Mangusta... I felt at home with MM.net
until past few years I have had my 04 in Carliale since 04...
I used to be placed in the Modifed Mercury class... Since I have a supercharger on vehicle & there was simpley no thought of a Merc Maruder class... It won 2nd a few years in a row & was pissing of the TRUE modified Mercury's class....
SO I have been glad to see this event coordinated & ran as well as MM.net
SHout out to Paul...
Promise Marauder will be with me again next year...
we gonna change the "just changed master brake cyl" again... hopefully we get a working one...time time

I was on the turnpike today and drove by the showfield, I saw our white tent with the blue stripe was still up, I wish it was this coming weekend.

My feet are still recovering! Its such a build up to the event and then once its over, its such a let down. :(
I think I wanna shoot for the Carlisle's "coolest hang out" next year. That should get us really noticed. Since we own "Marauders" and have the how royal theme with "Crown Victoria" and "Grand Marquis" Maybe do a Mid-Evil times or a Pirate theme under the tent. We are up on a mountain and can probably pull it off with a little planning and effort. Instead of burgers we'll go with giant chicken wings and ribs. ;)

How about having a carnival at our tent with face painting for kids, or a dunk tank now that would be cool, and would be a great way to cool off.
Or just tap a beer truck at the tent

If I am able to make it next year, I will definitely tweak my travel plans. I felt tired all weekend due to poor sleep Thursday night, followed by a 500 mile drive the next day; I never fully recovered from that. My heart says I can do 500 miles w/o any problems, but my body told me otherwise. Next year I'll break the trip up getting there and plan to arrive midday/early afternoon Friday....just depends on what classes I'm taking next summer.
I'm certain I was a bit dehydrated by the time I got there and I could definitely feel it by the time Sat evening rolled around. I know I drank less alcohol at this event than any other, which was probably a good thing...I would've ended up puking then making out like some other people did...:D
I've been treated for dehydration before and was totally oblivious to the warning signs this time around (lack of sleep, low liquid intake, out in the sun, constant feeling of listlessness). Next time I'll leave the sodas in the store and bring water and gatorade.
I still had a great time seeing familiar faces as well as new ones. It's hard not to have a good time when there's a Marauder event going on. I'm all for getting us 'noticed', whether it be coolest club or most cars...I think it would be awesome to get that kind of recognition at such a large event.

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. I popped my CV award cherry with a third place trophy from all of the Marauder, CV, and GM brethren! Thanks to all who participated! Paul...A themed tent sounds awesome. The heat may preclude us from wearing period correct clothing, but there's plenty of time to brainstorm!

Would we be allowed to wear Bermuda shorts if we did a Pirates of the Carribean theme? :P
Or we could do a European pirate theme...guys wear speedos and girls wear g-strings...we'd definitely be popular then!!!

Dehydration??? Did all your Air Force training wear off already??
There were 20 coolers around the tent filled with every form and shape of liquid refreshment. They were all available for the collective gathering. I know I had one full of bottled water that had been iced down for 2 days. Another cooler was packed with Coke, Diet Coke, Pepsi and Diet Pepsi (I was informed by someone at the BBQ that it is improper etiquette to put Coke and Pepsi in the same cooler :o ).
All you had to do was lift the lid of a cooler. Everything there was to share if it was in the open near the tent.

Soda is not the answer for replenshing fluids...caffeine makes it worse. I was the one that mentioned Coke and Pepsi in the same cooler...light-heartedly, of course. I was in the hole due to lack of sleep then driving 500 miles and made it worse with only 5 hours sleep Fri night, not eating breakfast Sat morning, busting my ass to clean my car Sat morning, and not drinking enough water on Saturday. We had plenty water on hand; I just simply was not paying attention to what I was/had been doing to myself...lesson learned.
I think the straw that broke the camel's back was having to put my sticker on the windshield Sat morning... ;)

When the sun came out on Saturday, I should have splashed on the sunscreen. On Monday morning, I was striped red and brown. My classes were laughing as they never saw such burned skin before. When I took my watch off, they hit the floor. There it was...a band of baby white skin under the watch band, in a sea of red.
The trip home was wonderful.....no traffic, no rain... and crusin' home doing the speed limits (81-78-80) I only had trouble with 287 MPH. They really have to lower the speed limit on that road to something more attainable.
We did our usual stops at Cabela's and Dietrichs meats. Can't pass up buying their Horseradish, slab bacon, and home made pretzels. This year, they were taking blueberry pies out of the oven as we got there. OK...OK... we'll take one of them as well.

I've done the lobster impression at Carlisle before. This year I brought along the sunscreen and slapped on a bunch before leaving the hotel on Saturday morning even though it was still quite overcast. Those UV can still penetrate and surprise you. It worked well but I did get "some" color on my face; but not nearly as much as in years past.
Uh ...... those are Interstate signs NOT speed limits, Jim !!!! Yeah, I bet it was a little tough on I-287 trying to set a Bugatti Veyron speed run record in an MM. ;) We're good; but I think that we are "drag limited".

This - tired all day Saturday after getting in late on Friday and not getting much sleep, plus not enough time to see everything.

I echo Bluerauder's comments! I had a great time with great people and great cars! I'm looking forward to the New Hampshire event to get together again. What I dread is winter storage. Thats when I trudge my Grand Marquis through the snow while the Marauder is warm and dry!
I hope to see many of our members at NH Motor Speedway :)

That's exactly why I'm coming on Thursday next year, instead of Friday night - need more time for everything. There are a lot of things I didn't get to see, and a lot of people I wish I had been able to spend more time with.
Next time I'll know better :)

Dietrichs pies, cookies, pretzels.... you name it......are worth the 2+ hour trip from Bergen County NJ.
In the winter..there is a farm near Cabelas that has a Christmas display. If you haven't brought the family (children or grand-children) you are missing something fantastic. My Mustang club makes the trip every few years because we are still kids at heart. They are open from November (Thanksgiving) through January (Orthodox Christmas).
