Need some help guys, I got the Avic-Z140BH (pretty much the same as the X940BT, except 7.1" screen, no volume knob, and motorized faceplate; even the same install manual) as well as the suggested wiring harness, XM tuner, backup camera, and dash kit. So I am trying to solder up the wiring harness from the new unit to the wiring harness adapter and found that in the manual it states you connect the right rear speaker wires to the sub and don't connect the left rear speaker wires.... So this means my rear speakers won't be hooked up...and instead my sub will. How do I hook up my factory amp/sub and keep my factory speakers also?

The manual states "When a subwoofer is connected to this navigation system instead of a rear speaker, change the rear output setting in the initial setting. (Refer to the Operation Manual.) The subwoofer output of this navigation system is monaural." Then a little below that, "When using a subwoofer of 70W, be sure to connect with violet and violet/black leads of this navigation system. Do not connect anything with green and green/black leads."

The speaker colors are as follows:
Left Front - White & White/Black
Left Rear - Green & Green/Black
Right Front - Gray & Gray/Black
Right Rear - Violet & Violet/Black

Then if connecting sub Green & Green/Black not used. Violet & Violet/Black connect to sub only. Therefore no rear speakers... Help?

Posted this in an older thread too, but figured I might have more luck in a new thread.

I believe what they are saying is to connect the right rear / violet & violet/black wires to the sub in addition to the right rear speaker.

Personally I'd replace the anemic factory sub with something better. Then you can use the separate sub outputs at the rear of the headunit.

So I got the metra connector for the stock sub that has 3 blue/white wires (only one goes to a used pin) and a red & white RCA sub input. I hooked the inputs up to the rear audio sub output and put power to the blue and white but no luck.

Anyone kept thier stock sub and used it with an aftermarket...saw there were tons of people who said they have the x940bt which this wires the same as...any of you install and keep the factory sub? Thanks

I think you'd better off replacing the anemic OEM sub with an aftermarket unit.

I installed an Infinity Basslink. Relatively cheap and sounds good.

Sub and amp in one unit.

You can get one for $200.00 or less.

Jim, I have always had an affinity for Infinity... :) I have them in The Blackbird. I used to have them in the den until the woofer surrounds disintegrated and they were replaced by a pair of Wharfedales.

Will that Basslink sub h/u directly in place of the factory box?

I actually had it mounted in the same place as the factory sub, but the spare tire wouldn't fit on the shelf.

I used short screws to mount it so I wouldn't pierce the gas tank.

You may have to redo some of the wiring to connect it.

I got the stocker setup but it doesn't sound so good as I kind of figured, so I will probably get one of those basslinks at some point.

For those that have put thier own splash screen on thier 940bt, any idea why the ones I made won't work??

When I click to select the picture it displays "Image file read failed."

The pictures are on the SD card in the Picture folder and are JPEG format, sized 800*418 (the actual correct size i believe for the 7" screen) with the largest file size as 211KB, and the smallest 139KB. Any idea why this isn't working???

I just copied some Marauder JPEGs I had and they work fine.

Reduced the file size of all of the pictures to under 100k...no effect. Same error message.
