View Full Version : For Sale Trilogy #95 2004 DTR Marauder for sale - $11k

Hey everyone, although I am not an active poster on this board, I have been actively following for years. Unfortunately the time has come that I am putting my Marauder up for sale. Here are the details:
It is a 2004 DTR with spoiler, dark charcoal interior, CD changer, trunk organizer, and adjustable pedals. I bought the car in 2006 with 35,000 miles on it. I bought her because I work for the government, and had recently taken an assignment that required me to split my time between DC and Indy, and it seemed like a great highway cruiser that I could also have fun with. As such, it now has 142,000 highway miles, but I have always made sure to keep the car in mechanically perfect condition, using nothing but the best upgrades. I've only taken it to the strip twice since I've owned it, so I'm sure the engine has lots of life left.
Here are the upgrades:
1) Trilogy #95 with 3.0 pulley
2) Cold-air intake with larger Mass Air, car makes just under 14psi of boost
3) Magnflow cat-back exhaust with X-pipe
4) Moser custom 31-spline rear axles with 4.10 limited slip differential - 18 months old
5) Widened rear wheels, Nitto NT555 295/45/18 rear, 255/45/18 front
5) Naake suspension with QA1 single adjustable shocks and custom progressive rate springs - Shocks rebuilt and springs replaced 2 months ago
6) Addco front and rear sway bars/Metco control arms/Watts link - Depending on your shock settings, this car can corner on a rail, or ride as smooth as silk
7) Electrical system capacitor and auxiliary battery added behind the spare tire - As you know, the Trilogy kit requires the alternator to be mounted backwards, creating bad cooling airflow. After losing an alternator to heat, this system evens out the electrical draw, allowing you to run all the electronics in the car you want
8) Stock speakers replaced with top-of-the-line Kenwood speakers
9) New Kenwood touchscreen radio head unit with steering wheel control integration, iPod control with on-screen cover art, Bluetooth phone integration, and Pandora radio - (I couldn't stand using a cassette tape adapter to use my iPod anymore!) - 6 months old
10) Remote start
11) Autometer boost and oil pressure gauges
Extras included: Original radio head unit, 3 additional factory wheels, badgeless grille (silver birch - would need to be painted), and rear bumper skid plate. I will be keeping the subwoofer and amp in the trunk, but the wiring will remain.
I recently had the intake and injectors cleaned and serviced, and had the car dyno'd @ 437hp -- That comes at to right around 550hp at the flywheel. I haven't had the car to the track in 3 years, but it ran in the upper-mid 12's, which was back when it still had the stock 3.55 rear end. The limited slip 4.10's should undoubtedly improve that time quite a bit.
What it needs: Whenever I inquire about a car, and the guy tells me "It needs nothing," I know the guy is lying. Here's what you need to know--
1) Mechanically, I'd say the engine is at the top end of its hp limit with the current fuel system. If you want to make any more power at all, your next step will need the Boost-a-pump setup replaced with a better (Focus) fuel pump and larger injectors. As it is currently, at the very top end under WOT, the system will sometimes trigger the lean engine light code. The car doesn't ping, but it's enough to trigger the light sometimes.
2) I learned the hard way that a car's life in DC and the "Northeast corridor" is not a good one. Coming from the Midwest, I couldn't believe how hard it is to not get dings and scratches there! Unfortunately, parking in DC involved parking wherever you could find a spot, which was usually parallel parking, and in the best-case scenario would be a spot labelled "Compact Only." As such, the front and rear bumpers have lots of small scratches and scrapes. The top of the grill has a scratch from a 4x4's tow hitch who decided to parallel park in front of me... and (you can't make this up) the rear driver's side door has a dime-size dent from a teenager on a Segway Capital Tour Group who wasn't watching where he was going. It also has the requisite amount of rock chips from 140k highway miles on I-70 between Indy and DC. Don't get me wrong, the car still looks great, even up close... But I would presume that like me, most of you on this forum have a much higher standard of what "great" looks like!
My plan was to keep the car in mechanically perfect condition, let the scratches and scrapes rack up while I still had my DC stint, and when that was done, take her to the body shop for a repaint, maybe throw on some blue FordGT cylinder head covers and drilled brake rotors for looks, and begin her life on the car show circuit. However, I recently had the opportunity of a lifetime to buy a 1965 Pontiac GTO Tripower for a price I'd be insane to pass up on. In addition, now that I no longer travel to DC, my wife and I are beginning to discuss having children. (This isn't one of those "having a baby, need to sell my toys ASAP!" fire sales, but it is something we're thinking about.)
As such, here is my extremely long post. If you'd like a mechanically great Marauder that handles amazingly, does everything well, and absolutely screams, while being as comfortable and streetable as ever, give me a shout! I'll answer any questions you have.
$11,000 obo
I'll post pictures immediately following.
Thanks!

Here are a few choice excerpts from the Flickr feed - Including the door ding from the kid on the Segway. I can link to more individual ones if anyone would like, but there are a lot on the Flickr link above.
EDIT: I uploaded smaller photos for ease of viewing... For the full size pics, go to the Flickr Link.

Oh yeah... Forgot to mention... The Kenwood radio has the override so you can watch DVD movies on the 7" screen while the car is in drive.

Some of you have asked for closeups of the steering wheel and seats. The wheel is perfect as far as I can tell, and the seats are not broken down at all. (I'm 6ft and 165 pounds, so I don't think I take a lot out of them.)

Can you PM me the details on how to do the override thing on the Kenwood? I have the same model/issue. Gonna be taking the kids on a trip soon and would be great to play movies during the drive.
TIA...

I've had several inquiries, but no one has actually pulled the trigger, so I just posted the car on eBay if anyone wants to do business through there:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=200936820211
(The description is pretty much the same as on here.... Less new typing!) Of course, I set the "Buy It Now" price higher on there than I did for you guys! :-)

Also... I see from the eBay report that it shows two accidents. One with a bicycle before I owned the car (which I'd guess did next to no damage to the car), and the other where the car was towed. In that case, a work truck backed into the front end, and ruined my front driver's side wheel, and bent the control arm. (That's why I have 3 spare wheels instead of four.) The front fender and control arm were replaced, and the car drives straight and aligns just fine... Just in case you were wondering.
Not sure why the "duplicate title" is reported as an adverse action. When I paid the car off, my bank had trouble finding the title to mail to me, so I just ordered a duplicate one.

I ran it up to about 8xxx for you. GLWS.
Oh look, Schil bidding, I bid what I was willing to pay site unseen, maybe I can make it out before the auction ends.
FWIW, you won't get a true idea of the market as long as members with no intention of buying jack the price up.

Wait a minute. I am willing to pay that much. I am a real bidder with a perfect Ebay rating. I offerred more than that thru contact with the OP, but am not a fan of a major purchase on Ebay without first touching the vehicle. I have purchased cars/trucks from Ohio/Florida and Oklahoma not to mention a 6300 mile K5 Blazer.
Maybe I should have posted more info on my post. Sorry for any confusion. I am in the market for Marauder adn am sure we will buy one if the conditions are correct.
Thanks

Everyone has 100% feedback ratings on Epay, just like all the kids that participate in sports now days get a trophy.
I have brought and sold many cars on eBay, from pretty much all over. I will buy sight unseen, as long as the money is right, but there are always those that jack up the prices, only to never follow through. I've had it happen in both selling and buying. If you going to buy it, go for it, if your just running up bids, then that's just bad ju-ju.:shake:

No Bad Ju Ju here. I would own it if my bid was the winner It was not artificial. I would buy a plane ticket and get the car if I was the winner. I edited my post to remove the inproper wording. I repeat I am sorry for the confusion. It was not intended that way. I just happen to be a fan of the vehicle.

Running the price up is schill bidding
To actually be considered shilling, it would have to be over the reserve price and would have to be in collusion with the seller.
Testing the water with a low-ball bid has no effect on anything, it is done every day.

You may consider re reading Epays rules then........
Low ball bids are for those who like to bid for the "fun" of it, costing others more money. Only one of the many reasons I don't do a lot on there anymore.

Woah! I just logged on today... Let's all get along here, guys! I just want to be clear, I haven't colluded with ANYONE to rise the bid prices. Besides posting the link above letting you know I had it on eBay, I haven't contacted ANYONE about it.
I can also say that I don't doubt for a minute that any one of you would follow through if you end up meeting the reserve and winning the bid. I've had several people call, and seem genuinely interested... not just going on eBay to run up the bids and ruin everyone else's fun.
Now if some other bidder who hasn't contacted me (either here or through eBay) ends up winning, then I might start worrying about them being a deadbeat... But to everyone who's written or phoned, you all sound like standup guys.

Good idea.
Ebay defines "shill bidding" as bids that are placed "with the intent to artificially increase the price or desireability" of an item. Bids that don't meet the reserve price have no effect whatsoever on the selling price, and do not fit that definition.
Either that, or it is the least effective shilling possible . . .
. . . . . Low ball bids are for those who like to bid for the "fun" of it, costing others more money. Only one of the many reasons I don't do a lot on there anymore.
You can not get the item for less than the reserve price - nothing that happens prior to meeting the reserve has any effect on the selling price, and doesn't cost anyone anything.
I do agree that having to pay a higher price because someone else put a bid on the same item can be annoying, but it's kind of the nature of an "auction." ;)
jasonblair
06-24-2013, 09:25 AM
The debate about shill bidding aside... Since I offered the car for $11k to you guys on the forum, I just want to let you know that if any of you bid that amount and let me know it was you who submitted the bid, I'll gladly end the eBay auction immediately. The $12k Buy It Now price is for people not on the forum.

2ndmm and I should be doing the transaction this weekend. I've been getting a few minor things on the car updated for him... I thought the battery went bad yesterday, but I tested it today, and it was only a corroded battery cable connection, so I got that cleaned up and working fine.... Unfortunately, my guy at the shop got oil and grease all over the driver floor mat yesterday, so my agenda tomorrow involves OxiClean and some floor mat scrubbing!

Been away from the site for a bit but can't believe this isn't GONE already.
I'd eyed this one SERIOUSLY until I found out about the accident mark on the title. Not because I care, but because I would not be able to secure financing for a car with a branded title, regardless of age or mileage, through my credit union.
