Deer DOA. Lightning not doing too well either. The good news, I drove it home. Damage assessment so far is the front grille is in peices, right fog light broken, fiberglass front frame broken, right headlight loose (assuming it'a a result of the broken frame peice), right front fender bent. Hood OK, looks like the lower bumber assy survived as did the aftermarket headlights.

This was my second wildlife encounter today. Coming home from a local car show I had to hard brake stop for two wild turkeys that bolted in front of the lightning. Both times I was doing the speed limit but I was able to see the Turkeys in the daylight (40mph road). The deer were not so visable until they ran out of the woods on a dark road (50mph road).

No pics - my camera is not available.

So sorry to here this Shaun. I half expected to see a pic of a deer blown to smithereens buy an actual lightning bolt. Took me a sec to realise you were talking about your truck.

Hope you can wrangle your insurance co into genuine Ford replacement parts.:)

Shaun, so sorry to hear about the damage to your truck. Hope the fixes all go well without too much delay or financial impact. :(

I too thought this was about a bolt of lightning striking Bambi in the forest !! :o

Really sorry to hear about your truck. Deer suck. Swerving to avoid one is part of the reason I totalled my Crown Vic back in March. I hope the truck is back on the road soon. Glad you're okay. Vehicles can be fixed.

I've been really fond of 2nd Gen Lightning's as long as I could remember. I think I was in 5th grade when they were at dealerships. My parents were coincidentally looking for a new vehicle at the time and I was instantly drawn to the one on the showroom floor. My dad kinda chuckled and said "Maybe in about 15 years" (that was about 15 years ago) Time for me to start looking.

I removed all the broken grille parts to assess the damage. I have to add new headlights to the list... to replace my new headlights. The mounting tab is broken off. It might have been a relatively easy repair except for the bent fenders.

Now that I have to replace everything it may be time for some more upgrades. You know the old saying about when life gives you lemons...
