View Full Version : Fastest MM Times?
I see that Lidio just ran a 12.05. What is the fastest time so far in any MM? I don't think everyone who has raced has posted their times.

Lidio has the fastest verifiable 1/4 mile time to date I beleive.

If weather permits, the local strips here in Michigan are opening in April. I would expect Lidio to run a better time due to he cooler weather. I know with some over the winter mods and upgrades, I am looking forward to my first runs since I ran my bone stock Trilogy system last summer. I expect low 12's. Stay tuned...

Thanks for the recognition guys if it turns out for now that my MM is one of the quickest ¼ milers.
But for the record I want it to be known now that my car won’t be the fastest for ever (obviously there’s always some one faster). I’ve been down this path before in the Mustang scene and history is just repeating it’s self for me here as well. All of my personal cars that I like to call “true street cars” are just that… True street cars that I like to not ruin just for the sake of a better, and better ET and bigger ego every other weekend when visits are made to the drag strips.
With out sounding cowardly here; what I’m saying is that you can only achieve a certain level of performance with a given car and then its time to start turning it into a loud, tiny, compromised street car, that only the aggressive owner of that car can tolerate.
This is not the intent for my own personal Marauder. Yes I want it to be fast, the fastest if possible. But not to the point where it’s ruined. If my MM makes it into the 11’s in the ¼ mile… once a car is capable of 11’s most tracks require a role bar!! Absolutely not for this car. No way are my kids, my wife, my parents, my buddies, etc. going to climb over a role bar to get into the back seat of my Marauder!
It’s difficult to always convey this on the net, but my MM is so stock like in manners it’s unbelievable. With the stock torque converter, completely stock exhaust and only slightly firmer shifts then stock at part throttle…. You’d never know my MM is modded until you start to go into boost. Even the 4.10s with the slightly taller Nittos in the rear don’t make the car feel racy and over revish with just normal driving.
I’m not going to up the boost any more on my MM, 13.5psi with this set up is pushing it with 10:1 compression and 92 or 93 Octane. I’m leaving the exhaust alone for now. The gears are as big as I want for daily driving. So this is about it for now.
When I get a better pump in the tank I will be trying a little hit of NOS (30-50HP) which hopefully will work with 92, 93 or 94 octane.
On a stifeling, humid and hot Michigan day I think my MM with it current set up will only go 12.2’s to 12.4s and with a little hit of NOS probably high 11’s. This is enough to send a lot of Vipers, Vettes, F-body’s, Cobras, GT’s and many more home feeling pretty hurt. Which I might add, I did plenty of with the Trilogy number -1 car last summer with.
Thanks

Absolutely! This is exactly how I feel about my MM as well.
As I have consistently said to everyone who knows me (and many folks here on these forums) I will not compromise my MM's refined feel. Although I too wish to be as fast (and reliable) as possible, I will not start carving up my MM...period. I've been down that route too with my Mustang. Sure, I could run that car into the 10s, but the price I paid in the end to get there turned it into a garage queen not suitable for the rigors of a daily driver. In addition, I suppose that as I have aged my tolerance for such compromises to true street has grown very thin.
All in all this is why I chose the Trilogy package, and your approach Lidio. If someone comes along faster, so be it. I just want to be as fast as I can be without compromise. I beleive you have shown the MM can be just that...very fast without compromise. For that I say well done:)

I wish you had picked another word, Lidio, the concept of cowardly fits nowhere here, in this thread or on this board at large. In fact, I see just the opposite. Takes some balls to buy a brand new 35K car and mod it. We may be bold, or, just crazy, but surely no cowardice is involved.
I do believe something is missing, and in a word, that's friendship, maybe a touch of loyality towards a fellow owner too. It's real easy to slip into "my car owns your car" and I don't favor that in the least. I enjoyed hearing of your times as much as the man delivering the news, and I'd like to think we would all pat you on the back when you got home.
In my mind, it's us against this car, that's the real contest. It's challenging, and results can be elusive. I will not race another MM. Anyone else is welcome to step up. It's my MM against the world. Mustang, Camaro, Impala SS, Sable, what ever...Bring 'em on, we have a Marauder in every class of mods. Challenge one of us, challenge us all, who's first?
When you let the MM get between friends, you're missing the real fun of ownership. Everyone follows their own plan on building this car, no one can be wrong. The 1/4 mile is only one test, there are others ahead. Someone will come out #1, and someone last. But, let's not miss out on the fun of finding out. I'm on the planning committee for Indy, and we're mapping out the racing program to provide maximum fun. This too, seems a challenge, but we'll get it figured out.
Congrats, Lidio, nice job.

I have been fascinated by this forum ever since I found it--it has a character all it's own--I do not feel inferior or cowardly if I don't make mods--that's my business---BUT , I really enjoy hearing about and seeing your cars, counting you among my best friends and sharing your ups and downs just like family--life is too short to be arbitrary and demanding--relax and enjoy this great group we have and enjoy it's member's accomplishments. Let's keep things :coolman: and friendly  , Maury
