There is a noise coming from the driver seat back (back rest - vertical portion) in my '04 Marauder. The noise occurs only occasionally, but regular enough to irritate me. The noise sounds like a tick (metallic tick). Has anyone experienced this and if so, what was your solution? Thanks for your response (s).

SB has it. Took the seat apart a few years ago looking for a broken tack weld or something but found nothing obvious. Reassembled the seat and made sure everything was real tight and the tick went away for awhile. Back now occasionally when I drive it but is quite when Ms. D drives so I'm assuming more weight makes what ever it is more pronounced.

Check also that the seat track isn't the issue. I've read that is sometimes the problem.

OK, thanks so much for the information. How do I remove the hard plastic piece on the back of the seat? Is it held on by clips? screws? or a combination of each? If it needs to be pulled on to pop a clip, is there a lot of "pulling" necessary or will it come off pretty easy? Sorry for all the questions, but I don't want to make my problem worse.

I had a tick about 2 years ago thought it was minor until one day i launched off a traffic light and the seat leaned back and almost lost control of the car. Seat frame cracked on the left main rail towards the front bolt hole so i pulled the seat seperated the frame and welded the frame back together, been holding ever since

my halftimers is kicken in but as i remember there are two screws and the platic has two formed hooks on it ,you remove screws and pull it up to get it off the hooks.

I've learned to ignore it, just like the air compressor coming on. It's one of things that makes our cars unique. :)

I heard from a reliable source that in fact it is caused by the Kia Gremlins. Trying to 'drive' us out of our cars and into a more fuel efficient vehicle...nothing is confirmed mind you...at least...

I have it also. Took the seat apart and found nothing. I sprayed the metal webbing under the seat with WD 40 and it seemed to help
