Just wondering what everyone thinks. Some of you may know that I'm in the middle of a rear end upgrade. And the time has come to choose the gear ratio...

If I was going to do the 4.56 setup. I would do the 33 spline upgrade as well...

I drive my MM on road trips that involve state to state travel (1000+ miles) and being in Utah/west. there are a ton of roads with 80mph speed limits and I frequently cruise at 85-90, sometimes even 100mph. For me 4.10's are the max. Crusing over 3k its a little to aggressive for my tastes with a V8. I like that 75 is only 2500 and 80 is 2750. While RPM doesn't really hurt anything but you're obviously going to suffer big time on 80+mph road trips. Plus its extra RPM of wear and tear on accessories and the engine.
That being said. If my MM was a 100% city car that I used street/strip toy car and not my DD. It would have 4.30 or 4.56 in a heart beat. I had them in our 01' Cobra and loved the **** out of them. If you are a frequent cruiser at posted speed limits 4.30's should be great. City mileage may actually improve with being able to fall into OD at 35mph.

Nice to know. I really don't drive it much. And when I do it's usually in town... Oh, did I mention I work at a Shell Service Center. So I don't mind paying a lil extra at the pump.

Well if you want the best bang and most fun for when you do drive it go 4.56. I have 4.10s it was a step up but I'm sure 4.30s are way better from stock. If I were to go back and do gears I'm going 4.30 only because I do road trips. If it was an in town car id to 4.56 in an instant.

I like having an option to travel. You never know when #1114 might make a appearance at a Marauderville! :)

My car has the 4.30's and they are awesome around town. IMO, if you do a lot of highway driving, I would consider them a little steep. IIRC, at 75 mph, the engine is singing along at like 2700 rpm or so. Luckily, I am not on the highway much. So, I don't remember exactly the tach reading. But 2700 seems about right. So, I just cruise at 65 or 70 and don't worry about getting any speeding tickets! :P  :o Also, it seems that on my last trip on the highway (approx. 3/4 highway rest city driving), I avg'd almost 22 mpg:eek:. All city driving is between 17 and 19 depending on whether AC is always blasting or how much fun I am having...:burnout:
Hope this helps and good luck!

FWIW---I had 430's for a month--went on a trip to Fla and back and it was as side already a bit much for the highway and gas....around town I seem to never get thru the gears and again a bit too strong for my shift schedule--something you might want to look at for these----
I really believe and feel that the 410's are the best set up for all types of driving--which is what me and a bunch have---good luck with whatever you choose--
and BYW--those 305's can be used on a 9 &1/2 width rim as well---but on water/wet roads----watch out--not good at all---and several here have found out--those are for the drag strip only --IMOP---carry on

I'm doing a dual setup on the rear 305/45/18 0n 18X10 rim for around town and DD, and another pair of street radials for traveling and long hauls. But I haven't decided what size to go with yet, on the stock wheels 18X8.

Just the same--watch out went its wet on those 305's--be very careful and not much gas ,,,,,I went with 255's on my stock rims up front--a real nice fit and footprint---
