Okay so it's time to start saving for a paint job. Right now it's in still good condition but me and my father thinks it time to spark it up. He was thinking a thin ghost flame from the front fender to the back fender with mini skulls along with it, And of coarse make the car as black as possible all around. Now me, I wanted to do a matte black finish but not this black gray look. Iv seen a black Mercedes amg with this pure black matte finish which I have never seen so dark it actually astonished me. Any opinions on what we should do??

Another vote for satin. Matte is very hard to spray well and very hard to perform any kind of paint correction.

If its a car you are keeping forever until you die or it does.... Do whatever your hearts desire.

However if you go Anything out of the standard MM colors or do flames, striping, ect. Be prepared to take a hit when you sell or plan on having it for sale for a while. Most Marauder folks are purists and prefer factory stuff. Also what you like, others may not.

See it a lot in the mustang community. "10k paint job!" but it looks like bozo the clown's car with so much busy work. Often you'll see them sell for LESS.

Yes subtle is best...I like the GN black like Motown or the tuxedo black...

If you want that flat black look, i suggest just plasti-dipping your whole car. If you end up not liking it, you'll be ready (money-wise)to have it painted with the ghost flames, or just peel off the plasti-dip and live with your original paint.

A paint job will never look right if anything has to be masked. Stationary glass, locks, lights.... everything OFF!

Putting a $5,000 to $ 10,000 first class paint job on a car with a Blue Book value of $6,000 to $9,000 may not be the best investment.

So you better love the car in that color and plan to drive it for quite a while.:banana2::banana:

What 10k paint job you know of? Most I've seen was $5k and that's at ford/mercury

It's worth it if you have the funds and want it done. That's like saying putting 5k worth of supercharger isn't best investment.

Eventually everyone here will need a paint job UNLESS their car is a garage queen with a clearance of 5ft all around and nothing to ever touch it.

We have members who bought there cars for $10,000 to 30,000. Mods raising there investment even more. Not many will make money off of theirs when they eventually sell. What is the Blue Book value of a 72 Chevy Cheyenne shortbed with a nice paint job or Ex Blonde Cheerleader after you have poured money into her for 40 years.

I was quoted 4-6k from shops around the area when my black MM was taking a crap.

So, I sold the car and bought another one. It was a lot cheaper. Even with re-moding the new one.

Btw, Mods are not an investment. Its disposable income. You don't gain anything more than you put in toward the value of the car. An investment is spending money planning to make money. The only "investment" is if you buy a car like a 0-1000 mile fastback GT500 and let it sit in a preserved climate controlled environment, or do high quality resto work yourself on classics.

Im in the collision repair bussiness...imo satin black is awesome I have it on my 86 bronco and I used the best crap they got and it stains shows every fingerprint..ohh and if u scratch it look at repainting that panel and hope it blends...my suggestion would be alot of high end carz here are getting wraps done and looks hella good...if you wanna paint stay with base clear that way if it scratches most of the time it can be fixed easily or buffed out....good luck im about to start on mine

I would buy a crown vic and clone it with flames before I would put skulls on a marauder. Don't really like skulls, but it's your car.

A local generic body shop in Henderson, Nevada quoted me $8,000 to repaint my Blk MM.:eek::eek:

I called Counts Kustoms in Las Vegas and the lady on the phone told me to figure on around $15,000. However, they do world class custom work at Counts Kustoms. :bows::bows::bows:

Just watch Counting Cars on the History Channel.

Figure I'll throw in my pricing also. I was quoted $9500 cheapest, 12K top end for my repaint. Had 4 different shops give quotes and they all said pretty much the same thing that it would have to be stripped down to metal panel by panel then repainted anew so most of the money was in labor. Many quoted 4 weeks or so to do the work and 1 stated it was too much work they didn't even want the job. Reason for strip down was because I have one of the lovely blacks with clearcoat failure from the notorious paint debacle from the factory.
