Hey! I am going to the local Ford dealer to get some service done. What do you all see as the going prices at your Ford dealer for the following:
Coolant change $119
Trans Service $189
Fuel Filter $62
Oil/Filter $27
Program 2 new Keys and 2 Key Fobs $93 (and hopefully get the door code too)
I already had the coolant change done a couple months ago. No troubles!
I know I could do these myself, but last month I worked 29 of 30 days. I hate to say it, but I would rather float around in the pool with a beer than
do a bunch of maintenance at this point. Besides, I have been spending any wrenching time I have on the 86 GT. Trying to get it ready for drop top season in October, LOL....:D

IMHO, there is no better way to spend free time than working on my MM.
Prices will depend on the shop. Each one charges a different labor rate, shop supplies, etc.

^^ that.
Can't beat a beer and a little work on your car vs giving your money to someone to do something you can do yourself. But to each their own.

With 6 cars at the house, there is a lot of wrenching being done especially with 3 teenager drivers and a wife. But, right now, my major wrenching is focused on the Mustang until that is driving like it should :burnout: (after all the wrenching I already did on the new motor...). Meanwhile, it seems like I am always tinkering with someone's car (except the wife's car-it's new). For example, I got home last night from work after a big rain storm and it seems one of the brand new headlights in the truck burned out. Well, it turns out the headlight is full of water!:mad2: It's that kind of crap that drives me crazy!
So, that is why I don't mind taking the Marauder to the professionals to get some of the maintenance done. ;)

A $27 synthetic oil change is DIRT CHEAP!
The fuel filter costs less than $15 and takes 3 minutes to change
As for the actual value, it seems very reasonable to me...I bet its NOT full synthetic oil

They always have good deals on oil changes.
But, you got my interest on the fuel filter... Is it on the frame rail or over the rear axle (like my Mustang)? How do you release the fuel pressure before you change the filter?

Release the fuel pressure with the schrader valve in the fuel rail in the engine compartment.
The filter is on the rear right side, inside the frame rail. There is a mod you can do. Get this filter, Motorcraft – FG800A (larger than stock, bend the bracket and use a hose clamp to secure it to stock bracket). The replacement filter may or may not come with the right size clips. If you need them you can get these NAPA - FILNCK11 – qty. 10 fuel filter clips

Fuel filter can even be done with the car on the ground. If you wait a couple of hours after running the engine, the fuel pressure should be almost none. You will get a little coming out of the filter itself, but a coffee can will catch that.
$27 for an oil change will NOT be synthetic. In fact, for that price, I'd verify that they aren't using a cheapo filter instead of the proper Motorcraft.

Haven't drove the car in two days. Had to give the truck some road time.:P I guess there should be minimal pressure. Should I still try the Schrader valve or just go right to the filter disconnect and replace?
The oil is semi synthetic 5w-20 and the filters are Motorcraft.

Whichever way you do it, wear goggles in case it spits.

The 2 things I see below that grabbed me was the key programming and the entry code.
if you have 2 working keys you can get blanks on ebay or amazon for about $6 each and programming is easy as opening a beer. I took my blanks to Home Depot and they cut them for $0 You can get instructions on google and you tube
the entry code can be located on the left trunk hinge or if you pull the drivers door panel it is on the lock module.

I only got ONE key and NO key fobs (remotes). I am kinda like you where I kinda rescued this car! LOL. I was told that I needed to have two working keys or start over. There is some kind of security system in the car, too. Of course, no remotes for that either or sticker on the trunk. I had the door panels off a month ago changing the speakers, I wish I would have known the sticker would be on the lock module.:depress: I wonder if the security system will have to be deactivated or removed before I can get the remotes working?:dunno:

Not out-of-line IMO - prices range from about your quotes to maybe $20 more across the board around here.

If the coolant exchange is done properly, i.e. with a full burp, I would say that is ABSOLUTELY worth the money.
My least favorite thing about these damn cars. Whatever happened to "open reservoir, add green stuff" being sufficient?

Yeah, I know what u mean. Especially with an aluminum engine in Florida in the summertime!:P The coolant service was already done in April. Just thinking about taking it in for the trans service, keys and oil change next.

They keys/fobs, transmission service, and oil/filter change are all reasonable prices! The coolant change seems high to what we charge, would be a little cheaper here, around $75, BUT they may be flushing the system, in which the flush chemicals would make up the rest of the cost (labor for a flush, or drain and fill, is the same here - half hour for either. The fuel filter is easy enough for you to do yourself for $15 tops and 5 minutes tops on the ground.
