So I need to replace my belt tensioner and I went to the dealer and the parts guy told me that I have to replace the whole cover. How true is that? I don't think he knew what he was talking about. Let me know. I need to get this replaced. Thanks

I went to the dealer and the parts guy told me that I have to replace the whole cover. He's a moron.
Tensioners are available at AutoZone, Advance, and NAPA for starters...

Yes, the parts guy is an idiot!
I'd replace the tensioner & the idler. They both go round the same amount.
Belt Tensioner:
Dayco – 305291
Goodyear – 49293
Idler Pulleys:
Dayco (smooth) - 89007
FoMoCo (ribbed) - YW7Z-8678-AA
If you need a belt, Gatorback is the best.
Gatorback (Goodyear) – 4060922 - stock

Ok yeah I didn't even think about the idler. Going to place to order on it now. Is there a specific torque for these once I bolt them back up?
