boot on steering rack

Can just the boot on the steering rack at the tie rod be replaced? Does the tie rod have to come out?

Yeah they can be replaced. They're called bellows. Not sure if they sell a split boot and it would be better to get a solid boot anyway.

Buy the tie rod and replace it too! If the bellows are split you can be sure the tie rods are worn. Better yet, replace all 4 and align it. It will feel much better when you're done.
