View Full Version : Nothing like the feeling of a full day of washing/detailing

Ok, so ever since picking up my Marauder I've wanted to budget a full day to completely, inside and out, wash and detail this thing.

After picking up many pointers here and elsewhere (specific to detailing a black vehicle) I began this project.

Another member showing off his silver Marauder after a full bath helped to fire me up and inspire me- today was that day.

Here a four quickie shots, before I lose all daylight, of the results. Now, please keep in mind this car, although purchased from the original owner was mechanically sound but lacked any attention to aesthetics, It had swirl marks galore and many little 'hits' in the paint.

More to do, to be sure- but for now I feel like after cleaning up and taking a hot shower it was a day well spent.

I really wish I could detail the crap out of my Marauder but it has literally rained everyday since I bought it. :(

On a less of a downer note, great job! It looks stunning!

Downsides to owning a black car is 1, it's never clean and 2 it shows ALL the imperfections.

Looks awesome!!!

If you keep up a regular routine, it gets much easier. Don't let it go too long between TLC sessions. Looks good !!

In the past I would spend 5-6 hours every Saturday doing the in & out detail, looked impressive for about 5-6 hours.

I think little details make the difference. For example, I went to AAA and picked up brand new plates. The ten year old plates on it were road rashed and thrashed. New license plate bracket (flat black) for the rear and ordered a new front bracket from Ford.

Bumper Doctor fixed the front bumper scrapes and bruises along with bring the headlamps back to life- back to reality.

Inside I let the leather oil/conditioner penetrate overnight before wiping it down.

Door jams and small nooks and crannies were not neglected. I always admire those who do pay attention to the small details when it comes to cleaning their cars. I'd estimate half the time is spent with a tooth brush getting out dried wax from previous car washes and getting to spots really no ones sees (but me) yet the overall presentation when completed is one not only of satisfaction but also of pride (if I'm allowed to admit that in this new age of political correctness).

Looks great. You deserve to feel proud of all your hard work. I know I do when I've spent the time and the result looks good.
What did you use on the leather?
