I don't know where to start but I was looking for my first car a pontiac grand prix at a lot in blue island, illinois and i ran into this goregous all black mercury marauder that they had for sale. I wanted to take that one home but it had 198,000 miles and 4 bald tires and they wanted $8,000 for the car. But ever since that day I told myself I will own one if not the near future as my first car. Once i get out of college and start my career in computer art i will. Right now I am a part time worker and full time student. I work for a Nissan dealership i am a porter. I've saved $3,500 so far but i know i need to save a lot more to get the car i want. Now when i go looking at other cars i would've like to have before i seen that marauder im always dis interested. I will be a very active member if you guys stumble across some marauders for sale around chicago or maybe even a couple states over let me know my father and I would go check them out. He's heavy into fords and mercurys. He is very goo with mechanical work and I am willing to learn. If you guys can let me know if you think the marauder is a good first car or should i look at something else but I doubt anything can change my mind. I'm 20 years old btw. THANKS

I have a story like ryan a few posts up :) my 1st year of colloge I got a p71 and found a used superchager for it than in 2004 I had hit a wall trying to find parts for the supercharger that no longer was in business called AED out of ca . Than a kid in my class said man you'r car looks like a marauder ... I said a what than I lost track of the years when you'r working and going to class and have a full time girlfriend and forgot about the marauder . Then 2010 I told myself my next car will be a marauder :)
Long story short a 2003 black marauder with one of a kind strips came on the site so I talked to the owner car was way out of my range so I had to pass on it .
Year later the same car came up for sale and the owner was in a Jam and I ended up paying a tad more than the 198k mile mm you saw I was in shock on what I got my car for . Keep you'r eyes open all the time and pick the right one . Talk to members on the site I had 2 members look at my car before I pulled the trigger call me crazy for not driving or see my car in person before I got it but it happen . Pony up brad member here said one time that I took to heart .Iif you wait for the perfect marauder and the perfect time that you may be waiting a long time and that marauder will pass you bye.it may not be the right time but with how rare Marauders are getting you got to just jump on it .
Good luck with you'r search I been in you'r shoes keep you'r eyes out all the time and take a look at the for sale posts here on the mm.net you may pay more but you know what you'r getting .
Sorry to write a book lol
Ps welcome to the site that makes you'r eyes bleed from reading pages of great information

There are usually several MMs on ebay, et al...some good...some not so much.
Someone on this site once remarked that the MM you want will find YOU in time...so good luck in your searching...they really are great cars.

Welcome to the site, one thing I'll mention about being a first car....understand that this car isn't Godspeed fast, but it will hold its own, its heavy, and turns on a dollar, not a dime. But to understand that these are rare, and that you have a collectors car makes up for it all. This site is hands down the best forum ive ever been to, so much knowledge and good people to know, its good to be part of the family, they wont steer you wrong.

The more i search it seems like its gonna take a while for me to save up enough money for a decent one

You don't have to look in just the Chicagoland area. Zack told me about a blue for sale in Minnesota, so after a few conversations with the owner I flew to Minnesota and drove it back to Chicago  The Current owner (Shijack) flew in from out of state and drove it back! Good luck in your search and this site is the BEST

you will molest it, so dont hold your breath trying to find one that isnt. 100K around $9,000 in great condition, 150K around $7000 in great condition. i have 148K on mine now, and i wouldn't sell it for less than $12,000.....but im not selling it, unless someone wants me to rip them off. its cheaper to find one with bolt-ons, rather than buy them yourself.

Is a MM a good first car for you? Maybe. It would have been a terrible first car for me.
The best first car for me was the slow POS my parents bought me for $800.

Yes...what they said. Check on insurance too...and they are thirsty big dogs, and the thirst is premium. As for handling, mine is stock and for a big car, they handle great. Again as big cars go. Plus I wouldn't get a DTR, unless you're willing to add port holes to overcome the color...;):D
