With the lack of availability to find original seat covers and the need to protect my original seats from the sun, I wanted to buy some seat covers to keep my seats underneath in good shape.
I just received my custom seat covers from Seat Covers Unlimited. I do have some questions on how they install as the website is somewhat generic. The front seats seem simple enough. However, how are the headrests removed on our cars? I know a lot of cars are easy but not sure why I'm having some difficulty with the Marauder.
Also, looks like the back seat has to be removed in order to install the seat covers as there are strings/straps that have to go around the back to make a snug fit. How is the back seat removed? I removed the bottom on my 1988 Crown Vic a lot of times and the back I messed up because I didn't realize there are screws that have to be unscrewed. Is it the same for the marauder?
And there is a cover for the center console. Not sure how it goes on since it also appears to be needing some string or straps on the back of it?
Thanks,
Dustin

Thats easy enough. I'll try it again and pull harder. What about the back seat?

You need to push-in and hold the post release button while you lift.
What about the back seat?
Bottom cushion: push-back hard on the front of the cushion and lift. *The cushion has metal rod brackets on the bottom that secure/slide-into 2 hook brackets on the floor. Back: remove the 2 bolts (one on each side) that secure it to the floor. *There are metal brackets on each side of the lower back.
slide-up the back. *There are hooks of the rear shelf/tray.
Typical FoMoCo rear seat attachment since the '50s (maybe (?) even earlier).

Will do. I went with a cloth that was comfortable. I'll be on vacation for a week so not sure I'll have the pics posted until I get back.

I still have to poke holes for the headrest. And put the center console cover on. Plus the back seat is a bit more complicated to put on.

I haven't really put the back seat cover on. There are loops around the sides and it comes with some string. Best I can figure, the rear seat has to come out and then you pull the strings through the loops on the back to pull it tight and secure.

You'd have to hunt it down. Kind of like bumper covers:beer:
I don't think it's available anymore. Certainly someone will chime in and answer this one.

There are no replacement seat cover skins avail. from Ford for the Marauder..long gone..A few members prolly have some spares or used ones and are most likely hanging onto them for the time being. They occasionly pop on ebay etc..or have to find a whole set of seats someone is parting out and strip them down or swap them out.

I have no idea..it's worth what someone is willing to pay really...I've seen whole front and rear seats as a set (used, of course) sell for $500 -$900..depends on condition of the used seats.
Maybe someone shoudl talk to katzkin about reproducing a set for marauders..they apparently make them for crown vic.

Well, I think they look fine. They look like, well, what you would expect, just regular aftermarket seat covers that fit over your original seat covers and protect your original seats (since we all know that Marauder covers are no longer available and from my trips to pick n pull I have seen the sun can do a number on leather over the years when exposed for so long to the sun and heat). And the generics at autzone and Wally World don't fit our cars, ask me how I know.
They sure do feel comfortable.
I wanted something that looked "aftermarket slip ons" as to not take away from the original seats. Something that obviously is there to protect the original leather and isn't replacing it.
Anyway, yes. They do offer some different styles on thier site.

Ya have to stay away from Wallmart, there is a site Car Part.com which you can search for car parts, many of these companies are junk yard or rebuilders and should be able to fine some decent used ones!

I wonder if someone like CarMotorsports could put me a nice Godshead on the seat covers for the front seats.

Are your Windows tinted? I would suggest looking into this because not only will tint block UVA/UVB rays on your skin, it will also protect the damaging Sun's rays on your seats and other areas of your car (dash, rear dash, console etc)
Invest in a quality sun shade too if you are parking outside a lot. This will protect your seats and dash too.
Nothing like an over-abundance of protection. Trust me. I had 11% tint on my old Marauder and got a sun shade. Over the years the sun shade became sun worn but my interior was still fresh and clean. No cracks or fading on the dash.

I have a complete new driver's side seat with cushions.....wonder who made 'em for Ford?? Maybe they would make sets for us??
