Was just wondering if anyone has changed their wiper switch.
I've had the wiper motor replaced twice but I think the switch is finally worn out.
My wipers have a mind of their own.
They come on and off when they want.
They run delay when they want.
They wash the windshield when they want.
It also works when I want it to.

I can get the switch off ebay for $44 and up.
Just wanted to inquire if anyone has had any experience swapping it out
and it if solved their problems.

High proability it's "wacky wipers," not the switch, given the symptoms you describe.

Remove the top of the column, there are two torx screws that hold the switch on and a plug. It's not hard to change.

Ok, I've read through the Wacky Wiper write up.
KUDOS for the write up !!!

I just have one question now...

The circuit board is protected with Silicone.
It is mentioned to remove the silicone to clean the board and then replace it.
Why not just coat the board with a coat of Clear Coat paint ?
If you spray a couple of coats of Clear Coat and let it dry out good
the board should be water proof afterwards...

Just a thought... :)

Yes remove it to clean it. I would lay a coat of silicon down again. It will be more tolerant to hot/cold cycles. I did this fix and it only slightly helped. Got a used CV motor for cheap (thanks Rob!) and it's been working great ever since.

Well, I got mine out today.
Took it apart, looked real close at it and put it back together right away.
One thing about being an ET, you can tell when the 'smoke' gets out...
The heat must have gotten to mine this week because we have had
6 days of 100+ temperatures. Add that to the trip I made to Oklahoma
2 years ago and after 6 years of service, it gave up its 'smoke'...

Picked up a rebuilt motor assembly from Advance Auto.
Rebuilt motor has a limited lifetime warranty.
So as long as I keep this car, I'll never pay for another wiper motor.
Wiper switch is still working fine.

If anyone needs parts, Advanced Auto has a promo going on until 7/20.
Order your parts online either for store pickup or shipping and you get a
15% discount with code JLY8 and a $25 coupon for your next trip to AA.
