I have a leak on the left axle of my rear end. After applying some seal repair fluid and new differential fluid the leak has gotten worse. Originally I was going to pull out the axle to replace the seal but there was an 'S' clip in the middle of the gears preventing me from removing the 'c' clip that locks the axle. Does anyone know how to remove this 'S' clip and will it cause me more work then I want???? THanks

The S spring does not need to be removed, just remove abs sensor, push in the shaft, and remove the C clip. and dont waste your money on "seal repair fluid" leave it next to the Age reduction juice!

The S clip is NOT in your way, you have to remove the ABS sensor and make sure that the axle is clocked so that it clears the e-brake assembly with the backs of the wheel studs, then the axle will slide in a bit farther and allow you to get the clip out. By the way, you are going to need a new axle, bearing and seal, not just a seal.

The Clip I am referring to is not near the abs sensor or ebrake. its in side the gear box in between the spider gears

That is what they are telling you. You have to push the axels in to be able to get the c clips out.

We know that, the point is you must remove the abs sensor to gain the clearence needed to push the axle in so you can remove the C clip.

You might need much more than a new axle, bearing, & seal. It is probably impossible to properly clean the axle housing of bearing & axle shaft debris without pressure washing it after complete disassembly. The pinion area in the casting is especially difficult to access.
This assumes you have a bearing failure, including shaft wear.
