I had the afternoon free, so I decided to take a cruise down to Stainless Works for a tour...

I met with Paul G., who posts here and who many of you are familiar with. He took me on a tour of the facility and showed me all the stuff they do. I must say, I was pretty damn impressed with not only the size of operation, but with how much they actually do! Nice C6 Vette on the rack too... :D

Anyway, we talked a little bit about future products for the Mercury Marauder and he expressed interest in a run of cat-back systems that would bolt up to the factory flanges. These would be a good option for those of us who want more sound, a little more performance, but can't shell out the money for a full SW exhaust.

So I'm posting this to see if there is any interest in a run of these. I don't know any of the technical particulars and maybe Paul would be able to step in and discuss this if there's interest. And I'll let Paul talk about the prices if we get that far.

So. Any interest?

I would be doing a happy dance if they did this

Is cat back the right term bc I thought they already offered one that bolted to the factory mid pipes? Or are they going to do one that bolts to the factory manifolds? It would be cool if they went to the manifolds and allowed you to upgrade to headers later.

AFAIK this is all they offer, which is to be used in conjunction with their headers.

The catback would bolt up where flanges are right after the cats.

2 1/2" Stainless steel everything (pipe, nuts, bolts, hangers, clamps, and anything else used to install), optional X or H pipe into ???? mufflers and I want to use my Megs 4" res delete tips. If the price is right, perhaps.

I would probably want to use my OE tips; I like the rolled edge look as well.

Not sure on specs but having toured the facility today I am confident whatever product comes out will look awesome and outlast the car.

And yeah, it'll depend on price for me too. This is just an "are you interested" type of thing at this point.

can someone explain to me why the factory connection cat-back for the CV/GMQ would not work on a marauder?

because SW does have a factory connection cat back (http://www.stainlessworks.net/products/exhausts-catbacks/ford-crown-vic-mercury-grand-marquis-2003-04-4-6l-exhausts.html) for 03-04 CV/GMQ

and I could be wrong but aren't the pipe/bolt locations, and hanger locations the same?

but I agree, tell SW to switch to rolled edge tips!

can someone explain to me why the factory connection cat-back for the CV/GMQ would not work on a marauder It might 'work' (not even sure if the H-pipe is the same, to be honest - never bothered checking!) but the 2V system would not necessarily be optimized for the Marauder. I am sure that the 4V system would be thoroughly checked for drone, sound, performance, etc.......just a hunch.

Perhaps Paul can step in and explain.

+++2. I'm in... but this is the second time a group exhaust buy has started........hopefully this won't fizzle out.

This is just gauging interest. If there isn't enough interest (I would guess 10+ firm yes's) then it's gonna fizzle out.

I am interested if 2.5" system. I would use my resonator tips.

Also interested if I can get the "H" pipe crossover.

I just dont see this doing much for performance with the factory exhaust manifolds in the mix, they are the bottleneck of the exhaust system.

After 11 years and 135K miles the pipes are starting to give way.

I'd be in for a run with this set up as well
