Being that is looks like I will have to wave bye bye to my blower I have been doing some thinking. For those that are N/A with bored out engines, what is your setup? Piston size? Company you went with for your setup? All that Jazz.
Also is there danger to running a 2003 Cobra engine N/A? One of my tuner friends told me the danger of running a low compression engine without boost, but that was for smaller engines. I do not know if that applies to all engines.
I do have that old engine block at Zacks to possibly build up.
Any and all help appreciated.
Thanks!

Danger to the engine, no. Lack of huge amounts of torque due to low compression yes. It would be a huge turd and it would drink fuel trying to move a beast like an MM around without boost.

I recall this information from Zack, but danger to engine was not clear. I was thinking of another Cobra engine, but put it in N/A. So when I could get boost again I would already have an engine installed. Bored out setup would be from my old Marauder engine block.

If your gonna buy a Cobra motor, sell the centri off of it and put your blower back on, just have the tune turned down a bit so its safer

I can see if the cobra pull I told you about is still available. You'll loose the centri but get a full cobra pull you'll just be eatonized

He already has a centri set up....

That I know. He knows what I'm talking about

Kinda off-topic, but I'm curious to know what your friend told you about that.
I have an idea on what he might have said, but I was pretty sure it wasn't an issue anyways.

Low comp modular will run fine. But not worth a damn. To make an N/A engine even near the 330rwhp range you'll need damn near the same amount of money as to make 400rwhp boosted.

Someone with a Mitsubishi with a 2.0 was driving around with no turbo building it up better. After 6 months of daily driving a low compression 2.0 liter engine it blew. That's all there is to the story. We did not discuss the technical side of it really.

Why are you getting rid of your Pro Charger?

My engine went boom. Need $$$$ for an engine... probably.

The only far-fetched reason I can think of, is somehow that motor made far too little power for the weight of the car it was in and essentially lugged all the time, to death.
I honestly don't believe that would've been the reason though.
Was this a first-hand or even second-hand account? Or was this a friend-of-a-friend thing? A brother of a friend of mine swore up and down that he blew up his old truck motor because he wasn't running cats, claiming their absence dropped back-pressure too much. I know it's BS, but I didn't call him on it.

Can't see any reason why a lower CR engine would 'blow up' because it was run without a supercharger on it.....
except if they did not have the computer retuned for the N/A application.
BTW: Your Cobra engine is 8.5:1 CR vs the stock Marauder's 10.0:1 CR
As others have posted....you will be missing a lot of torque and it will feel like a dog, especially after being accustomed to a S/C engine.

I used MMR also good parts, happy with it. I have 12.0-1 compression ratio with nitrous on pump gas! It works for me.

I wouldn't buy an assembled engine from them if they were the only shop on the planet.

Why not????
Mark asked me to push their products in return for great deals on parts. So I visited their shop while on a business trip to California. I watched them assemble engines without tq wrenches or checking any bearing clearances and they checked the gaps of all 8 sets of rings in only 1 cylinder. The rotating assemblies that were supposed to be balanced were not and the cylinders were not finished honed to each piston. I've not been impressed by any of their n/a combos as none have made the power they should have considering the mods. They have to build two engines a day to keep up with demand and that results in very poor quality control.
Basically they are the puppy factory of the mod motor world.
Oh, and their customer service sucks.

So far my MMR motor is good, but it only has about a 1000 miles on it. I have always heard good things about them. Oh well.

I did build mine myself so all things were checked but for me the parts were good. Maybe like mentioned above they are too busy to do as good a build when in a hurry( no excuse though). There customer service is just ok, they helped me so no problems here. My engine now has about 20k miles on my build and still runs sweet.
