Wednesday, July 31

A few of us arrived a day or two ahead. Wednesday morning Eric and I took a dry run of the route to Saint-Gaudens and checked out the restaurant for lunch in New Port before returning to the hotel in the afternoon. We ran into Mary in her SB and Mac arriving in Lucy.

Eric and I headed to the cruise night up at the Tilt'n Diner. We got there a bit early and parked the SB in a prime spot, unloaded the chairs and settled into conversation with the guy next to us who brought his Olds Convertible. Out of nowhere we hear the roar of a Marauder. A big black, blacked out car whips around the corner and out jumps DWSTANG67. We made room for him next to the SB and enjoyed the beautiful summer evening and our 2 Marauders looked great. We had quite a bit of interest from the really old car crowd, including one woman and her grandaughter who demanded to know why our cars "deserved" to be there. Eric and Dean schooled 'em and we parted on friendly terms. The cruise night ended at 8 pm so the three of us headed back to Concord for a late dinner at the BBQ joint. Having a good time so far!

Weather still gorgeous. Eric and I went down to breakfast and met up with Dean. We decided to take a ride up to the track first, then take a run up to Lincoln and drive the twisties on famous Kancamagus Highway over to Conway, have lunch and drive it back over to Lincoln. We stopped in at NHMS and talked to Susan Colby, VP to confirm they were ready for all 19 Marauders coming to the Car Show on Saturday.

The ride over The Kancamagus was fun from the passenger seat. Eric and Dean did a lot of passing the slow traffic on the straight-a-ways and heads definately turned. it's beautiful country and the road is full of great twists and turns. Perfect for Marauders. We had lunch on the other end and did it all again in reverse. (not my pics)

Here, here!! It was a great meet:) Already on my list for next year

It was really nice to meet a few "new" (to me) members, owning this car just keeps getting better and better each year

Thursday Afternoon and Evening

The Marauder Reserved Parking area is starting to see some action as members arrive. Some of us sit around in the lobby eating cookies and catching up with old friends and new. Haggis and Ladyhawk, MarauderJim and Richard Crowson along with Dean, and Mr. Man and I relaxed before heading out to dinner. This was BDJ's first NH Meet and he's running late because he had a tough ride up in some bad weather with traffic headaches, but we're glad he didn't give up. He even brought Garfield. We all enjoyed meeting Richard Crowson for his first Marauder meet ever. I think we'll be seeing him again. All weekend long he was looking for a new screen name and I see he decided on Stogie Bear. (which is perfect for you, Richard!)

After dinner at Beefside BBQ we headed back to the hotel for some adult beverages. If you've spent any time with Haggis and/or DWSTANG67 you'll understand completely. Another good day! (How many different kinds of bourbon/whiskey shots is too much?)

Friday, August 2

Peeked out the window early and the weather looks great. After breakfast at the hotel, we head 'em up and move 'em out at 9 AM sharp. (actually pretty amazing since organizing Marauder peeps can be like herding cats) But we have a full day ahead and need to meet our ranger tour guide at Saint-Gaudens Estate at 10:30 am. It's a nice route and a perfect road for a convoy. Off we go for the hour and a quarter drive. Beautiful views and sunny skies all the way.

The hotel group pulled into the lower parking area and soon were followed by MMO3MOK & SergntMac, Vtwoodsman & Marianne and NavySeaBee. The estate is impressive and we learned a lot about this reknowned artist and sculpture, Saint-Gaudens. He died so young at 59 years old, but his wife, also an artist, made sure his legacy was preserved. When monies to maintain the huge property and artwork ran out, the National Park Service took it over and runs it now. We spent an hour and a half with our own tour quide, Paul, seeing the home, gardens and the magnificent art. And did I mention that the weather was gorgeous!

After our tour, we took a backroads drive to look for a farm stand selling maple syrup. Never found it, but New Hampshire -off- the -beaten- path is beautiful stuff. We made our way to the Cornish~Windsor Bridge and did a trip across into Vermont and back again.

SORRY BUT I CAN'T GET All MY PICS TO LOAD....a "missing security token".

Friday Lunch & Dinner

After the Cornish~Windsor Bridge stop, we drove over to Newport for lunch at The Old Court House Restaurant followed by dessert ~homemade ice cream~ at Sanctuary Farm.

By the time we got back to the hotel it was late afternoon and more people had arrived. Smoke & Marcela and Guittard22 & Stefanie joined the rest of us for dinner at the Red Blazer. Then it was back to the hotel for more adult beverages. Another good day!

Saturday, August 3 Classic and Custom Car Show

Got up real early and meet a couple other hardy folks at breakfast then we drove up to Loudon as the advance team for the car show. We got there about 8 am. ( Ms. D and me, MarauderJim and Richard Crowson, I think). Well of course since we were on the way to a car show it rained. Luckily it stopped and the sun came out before most of the rest of the Marauder crowd showed up. The rest of the day was beautiful weather. They gave us prime real estate on the grass in the Hospitality Area. We had a nice turnout of 19 Marauders and 1 Shelby.

STILL HAVING TROUBLE UPLOADING OUR PICS SO WILL TRY LATER...:mad2:

Car Show happenings

We all feverishly cleaned up our cars (actually Eric did most of mine since my boss called for a lenthy chat thinking I was at home) because the professional judges were chomping at the bit. We recognized most of them and they recognized us. I was getting exhausted watching everyone work. Then a miracle occurred. SMOKE's bride, Marcela, walked up and handed me a big box of Starbucks coffee. She's an angel. I did share.

Lot's of other Marauders pulled in to line. Mainiac arrived with his son, Forrest, who drove Rich's SB on the track later on. :bows: The very last Marauder EVER built showed up with nhmuscle behind the wheel of his rock star Silver Birch # 11,052. Great to see it again, Ken. Larry Durham brought his son, and drove his gorgeous DTR. We all got to meet LMarauder03A and his wife, Joanne, for the first time. Billboard came by with his wife, Renee. Bill was the first person to take home a trophy for a Marauder back before we had a Marauder class. The local boy, RacerX joined us. No Marauder emergencies to keep him away this time. Burt Ragio also made an appearance along with Courtmarshall and family. Mac parked his Shelby among the Marauders which gave us 20 cars in our group. I think we broke our record for Marauders by one, with 19 represented. Sorry I can't post up my pics to show you all the beautiful Marauders. We're really having technical difficultiies...and neither of us is very technical.

Unfortunately, no burnouts are allowed, it's the autoX setup, there is a lead and chase car to keep you from going to fast. I was using my phone to record (fit nicely under the ps headrest) and then the wife called on turn two, effectively stopping video. I know someone behind me had video. I'll see if I can contact him. :D

Have to remind Paula before Carlisle 2014 and she can make a couple batches.

If you are staying at the Best Western Premier in Harrisburg we can give you some private stock. Here's the link:

Does this "private stock" require a card signed by a doctor prior to eating?

This time I'm staying over fer sure... That way if I imbibe some of the Flaming Skull (if it doesn't make me cry like a little schoolgirl again) I can spend the rest of weekend in a coma safe and sound. I can also empty the Meth tank, pour in some Flaming Skull and gain about 100hp.

I think that's a gross underestimation ;)

Paula, If you need any ideas for this year, I took my son zip-lining a few years ago. It was a BLAST! This place has the longest ziplines in the north-east. Just a thought. It's in Lincoln, NH
