I just love Ford/Mercury - 4,960 miles completely stock and the controller goes out. No parts in stock. Dealer will have my car for two days. I should have bought an offshore car. This stinks!

Hey! Stuff happens. Took Ford 2 weeks to fix my '99 Cobra when mine went out. The first one they put in didn't make it of the lot when I went to pick the car up. They had signed the repair off, but when I started the car, the same indications were there. Took my rental and went home. They called the next day told me it would take another week to get the part. I told them to make sure it was fixed this time, and I was saving mileage on the Cobra at the same time. Chill out, it's part of the car business. Nothing is ever perfect!:D

Hey! Think of it this way, your'e the first. Atleast the first I've heard of this failure.

Don't get too bent, we have all had to deal with some wierd crap at one time or another with our MM's. Could be worse...you could be waiting for the same part for a honda accord.:shot:

Thanks for your responses. However, I am deeply involved (higher management level) in the American Automotive Market working for a company that is a Tier 1 supplier. The inability of the American Auto companies to fix their issues and compete effectively in the world automotive market frustrates me. They force all the responsibilities on the Suppliers and then do nothing to fix their own issues.

I am sure that the component in question on my vehicle was either:
1. produced by an offshore company with lower standards and prices
2. or produced by an American company that has been pushed so hard for lower prices that cost cutting measures have resulted in bad product getting to the market place.

Hey guys, are you really able to say the the fit and finish on your Marauders is good. Take a look at a Nissan or Toyota - they are so much better that it is sick.

I HAVE NEVER PURCHASED ANYTHING OTHER THAN A FULL BLOODED AMERICAN VEHICLE - ADDITIONALLY I TRY TO PURCHASE EVERTHING THAT I CAN THAT IS MADE IN AMERICA BUT... We must to learn to be critical of ourselves and the products that we make in order to become better.

Take care and GOD BLESS AMERICA.

Nope! Never looked beyond the car shows. Some are nice cars, but the seats being so hard turned me off, let alone the price of some. In all my driving years, and through two marriages, I've only owned one off shore car, '74 Mercury Capri. Nice little car for it's time. But as with others, L/M didn't know how to market that one either.

By the way, what were the symtoms of the module failure. It might help out some of the others who are in the "I thought it was supposed to do that" boat....

Well here is the latest - The dealer told me yesterday that the part was ordered and being expressed in for this morning. It never showed. Then later in the day the dealer told me that they were not sure if they really had secured the part and they are still looking for one. To add insult, they called Ford to see if a loaner would be authorized - Ford turned it down.

I will post again tomorrow with an update - I will also try to find out what actually happed to the unit.

To get the warning stickers off - heat with a hair dryer (NOT A HEAT GUN) and gently use fingernail to begin to peel back the edges. After you get it started use a pliers to pull straight back and continur to peel the glued edge. It takes a while but it looks much better. I will admit that there is some slight residue left on the visor but it still looks much better than that stupid sticker. I am working on residue removal and will post when it is complete - I will include pictures at that time.

Okay, vehicle has been repaired and I have picked it up. Of course, the dealership has no idea why the module went bad. I am requesting a report stating the reason for the problems. I will update when I have further information or if there are further problems with the module (or vehicle).
