It's been a while since I've put up any progress on "Ol Smokey", but I think I might just see a glint of light at the end of the tunnel.

And Ol Smokey is going to have to be christened with a new name.

Quite some time ago...........Mo's pulled the 390FE out with the idea (my idea....not theirs)of just freshening it up and sticking it back in. After the motor came out, the car went about 30miles north to Derrick Smith to give the body the once over(my idea, not his) and some fresh paint.

HAAAA:lol::lol::lol:

Derrick is a great guy and in great demand...........because quite frankly he's a crazy perfectionist and does amazing work. Search Derrick's name and you'll see several Martyo vehicles, and national magazine features, etc.

The body work (extensive) and paint work is pretty much done. It was transported to MO's Speed Shop to have the drive train installed and sorted out prior to reassembly.

That's where we are now. It has occupied some prime real estate in the back corner for longer than Marty would like to think about. I always appreciate how they've kept me on a pedestal...........I feel special :D

I came by on Saturday and the lift was down so I took a few current photos.
It's looking great and the Motor (FE = F***'n Expensive) will come to life soon.

It has a way to go but I am happy. I've had great advise from Derrick and Marty to do it right. Jeff & Brandon keep going at it when ever we scrounge up a fresh batch of parts..............and Jimbo tracks me down whenever they need a fresh bag of money :lol: & :bigcry:

Lookin' good!

BTW: Did you 'accidentally' drop a 428 crank and a set of aluminum heads in that 390 FE?
