Hello everyone,

I just recently purchased a 2003 silver birch Mercury Marauder for $3500. The previous owner was driving it when he said the engine just quit on him out of the blue. He told me he tried to start it again but it just cranked and wouldn't actually start.

I used to have a 2003 p71 crown vic and always loved the Marauders, so I jumped at the chance to finally own one, even if I needed to rebuild the engine. Shes got quite a few miles on her (142,000), but knowing Panther cars well I know they can easily last many more if taken care of.

The interior is in good shape with no rips in the seats and good clean carpet. The drivers side floor mat has a hole worn into it, which is kind of a bummer but oh well. The paint is pretty decent, although there are some chips here and there.

I am super excited to bring this car back to life and drive it for many more miles. Worse case scenario I will buy a rebuilt shortblock from MMR and install my heads on it. To me, this car is very much worth fixing.

The previous owner started pulling the cam cover and thats where his troubleshooting stopped. I will probably put the cover back on and see if the crank will still turn or if it is seized up. regardless of what the issue is, I will be fixing it, and I figure i'll start with the simple stuff first.

Anyways, here are some pictures

Thanks to everyone for the warm welcome. Im looking forward to being a part of this site. Im out of town for work right now but next weekend ill probably see if I can get any further on troubleshooting the issue, unfortunately my time to work on the car is sort of limited to weekends. At any rate I'm hoping it will be an easy fix because I just want to get the thing out on the road where it belongs!

Nice find! I'm new to the marauder world also 2weeks ago I found a mint 2003B SB and I'm enjoying it just looking at it in my garage. Short story when I bought it from the guy he was really sad to see it go he was in money issues ETC.
So we're in the DMV and he tells me you know if you tell me you changed your mine I won't be mad at you and his eyes watered, I was like omg is this happening? Then when the transaction was made he cheered up a bit.
But I was really to find such a mint car.
Show room condition. :) anyways I'm the new kid in the MM Family hello to all,
