Hello everyone,
I just recently purchased a 2003 silver birch Mercury Marauder for $3500. The previous owner was driving it when he said the engine just quit on him out of the blue. He told me he tried to start it again but it just cranked and wouldn't actually start.
I used to have a 2003 p71 crown vic and always loved the Marauders, so I jumped at the chance to finally own one, even if I needed to rebuild the engine. Shes got quite a few miles on her (142,000), but knowing Panther cars well I know they can easily last many more if taken care of.
The interior is in good shape with no rips in the seats and good clean carpet. The drivers side floor mat has a hole worn into it, which is kind of a bummer but oh well. The paint is pretty decent, although there are some chips here and there.
I am super excited to bring this car back to life and drive it for many more miles. Worse case scenario I will buy a rebuilt shortblock from MMR and install my heads on it. To me, this car is very much worth fixing.
The previous owner started pulling the cam cover and thats where his troubleshooting stopped. I will probably put the cover back on and see if the crank will still turn or if it is seized up. regardless of what the issue is, I will be fixing it, and I figure i'll start with the simple stuff first.
Anyways, here are some pictures
