Last weekend I was driving down a country road out in the middle of nowhere, minding my own business. And wouldn't you know it, I find a black 04 MM. I pass this old house that looked like it would fall over if I leaned on it. No driveway, just a dirt path from the road. And it has a MM sitting in the yard.
I did a quick u-turn and pulled in just in time to catch the owner walking out the front door. Turns out he bought the car new in 05 as a left over 04. He says he got 10k off sticker price. The car is very dirty, covered with cobwebs inside and out. It's also very dusty inside and the original tires are just about flat. And the back seat and trunk are being used to store empty boxes. The car is 100% stock and he swears it came with a temp spare in the trunk when new. The best part is that the car has only 13k miles on it and that it might be for sale!!!
He told me he doesn't drive it much and I believe it by the looks of the car.
It's a barn find without the barn.

Good find most definitely a " barn find."

Donut spare was the OEM spare in '04.
Sounds like it could be a great find if it all checks out. Wonder why it sits though. Go over it carefully and if you can get the vin someone here might run it for you.

Take a look under the hood. Inspect the wiring harnesses for possible rodent damage.

Not necessarily.. just another heartwarming story of a Marauder owner who purchased new but never quite knew the full "allure" of the Marauder.
Same reason, I suspect, why we see landau-covered Marauders for sale at our local CarMax. Original owners just don't know....

Well if move quick you could have it road worthy by September MV-XI start date which is your backyard. Attend that National meet and learn pretty much all you need for years and years of happy ownership:up:

There is nothing phony about this, I hate those games.
I did take one pic of the car, the front end.
The man that came out of the house is probably in his late 70's to mid 80's. So I was shocked when I found out he was the owner.
He started out saying he hadn't given any thought to selling it, but did say he never drives it. Eventually he did say he would consider it and asked for my
name and number. Then offered his name and number, which makes me think he is at least considering it.
I am certainly going to try to buy it before it rots into the ground. The car is not under any cover and looks like it's been under a tree for a few months.
But this is not going to be a quick sale, I could tell that by our conversation.
My motivation for buying it is of course the low miles plus I don't want to see any Marauder rotting away like that.
I did look under the hood and so far everything is untouched by man or rat.
I may not end up with it, but I'm sure going to give it a try.
