Anyone know what a fair price for the purchase and install of the rear spoiler is. The dealer said they'd give me a break and charge $340 for parts and labor.

I never priced the OEM spoiler, sounds like you may be getting a deal. Labor by a professional should be no more than $80.

FWIW ... The wholesale co$t for one in black is $187 ( +S/H ) - example (https://fordparts.com/cart/?pn=2W7Z-5444210-AAB+).
And the install is a 1person DIY job that takes <30minutes. *Details available upon request.

That price sounds a little high. I calculate that they are charging you for about 2 hours of labor. When RFO and I installed mine, it took us about that long... but we were working very s-l-o-w-l-y and carefully because it's not an installation that either of us does on a regular basis.

I got screwed on the spoiler itself, but only paid $50 for the install. It was done by the dealers old body shop guys. (they sold the body shop to lexus)

So it ships in black - I don't have to get it painted? That's great, a screw gun and some drywall screws and I'm all set.

It's not a bad price but plan on a repaint. Mine looked like they used it as a snowboard before they shipped it. I had the spoiler thrown in when I bought the car. Rep said it was a $325 "value" (parts and labor). When we took it out of the box I almost beat the guy to death with it. It looked that bad. The bodyshop made it look sweet, much better than the factory paint on the car.
I like the spoiler, it's low key but definitelty finishes off the rear of the car.

Steve, the spoiler isn't that hard to install and the instructions are pretty straight forward. If you can get a good deal on the part you could save some money the install.

The spoiler can be obtained, fully painted, from www.fordpartsnetwork.com for $226.99 including shipping...and installation really is a DIY project, as long as you remember to "measure twice, cut once".

I was fortunate in that the dealer threw in the cost of the spoiler and install as part of the deal. Based on my experience, do not count on the painted version of the spoiler to come through without blems. My spoiler arrived scratched and with fish-eyes in the paint. The dealership did not blink an eye and had it re-painted gratis.
The last time I priced the painted spoiler in fordparts.com, it was about $187 + $15 shipping. Maybe you could print that page from fordparts.com and make a deal. To me, one should not have to pay a lot to have a factory available option installed by a dealership. However, when I looked at the spoiler before installation, it did not look that complicated to install if one takes care and can use tools. I just did not want to hassle with the install or risk messing it up if the dealer was going to do the job for free or for minimal expense.

Thanks everyone, called them back today - (just posted them as a good dealer in that particular thread) They'll do it for 300. Not bad, 200 for parts and 100 for installation all ammortized over 5 years. And I don't have to worry about receiving a bad part or messing up the new car - though I'm sure it will only take them a half hour.

Ahhh!!!!!:mad2: oh well, I'll make him get me a better rate.:argue: This way he makes money on the spoiler and I'll save it on the financing
I'm getting ready to post in "For Sale" Forum.
This spoiler is already painted Silver Birch (paint is excellant)
I installed this using automotive 2-sided tape. It held the spoiler in place securely w/ no need to drill.
I have the hardware & directions unopened.
I'm glad I didn't drill cause I decided to remove it (hair dryer, WD40, & plastic
knife & plastic squeegy.)
Cost: $350.00 includes shipping.
