Bought the DBP with salvage title out of Houston that was on ebay a month back or so. My youngest and I made it into a father/son trip, flew down there and drove it back, along with a u haul trailer of extra parts. We had a ball coming back, but couldn't run the a/c-managed to do it mid-July with the temps 100 the whole way back to Indiana. Between the underdrive pulleys, trailer, heat, and the tranny locked out of o/d, didn't seem a good idea to add the a/c heat load to the mix. She ran pretty good the whole way back with just a few issues to straighten out, mainly with the tune. Seems to be idling a bit low, and had some conflicting engine codes pop up (both banks running lean and rich at the same time). I think the strange codes are due to the dual fuel system (cng at 130 octane) and some vacuum leaks-pretty sure I've got it fixed now. The salvage title was just cosmetic damage-security gate malfunctioned and closed on the right front fender and door, snapped off the side view mirror, broke the corner marker light, sc***** up the front bumper, and scarred the rim. I've got a replacement corner maker on it now, and the front bumper buffed out pretty well-should just need some paint work on that corner. Once I get the damage fixed we can run it through a police inspection and get a rebuilt title on it. We're going through it for my oldest son, will make a really nice first car. I've found replacement aftermarket parts, but would like to go used oem. It's probably a tall order with only 328 made, but if anyone has a line on a good right front fender and door in DBP please let me know. Figured whatever fading is on a used part will match the car better than a newly painted part-and with this being a first car I don't want to make it too clean, there will probably be some scratches and dents in it's future...
We're going through the parts and will probably be listing quite a bit of them to offset the price of the car for him.

Don't think I've seen a Blue with the cowl hood before, it looks good.
Hope you are able to fix it. Door panel and fender should be readily available as GM parts. Check the junkyards in your area.
Keep us up to date on your progress and Thanks for saving a rare Blue. :2thumbs:

Thanks, we liked the cowl ind. hood too, although it and the louder pipes will probably be a cop catcher for the boy...
Looks to be a simple bolt on fix-really nothing broken or out of place. Plus the p.o. had a shop rebuild the front end right before the accident-new upper/lower ball joints, struts, and rack/pinion, as well as newer tires. Too good to pass up.
When I can find the cng it gets high teens to low twenties for mileage, and it only runs $2 or less per gallon (equiv). CNG runs super clean in the engine as well. The tanks in the trunk are a bit of a pita since they take up the whole area where the trunk organizer would go, but livable with.

God I wish I could have found that with the CNG. Been looking at CNG cars but not many I like that can do both fuels. But a marauder that's does both WIN!! Congrats on the buy I'm sure your boy will got in plenty of trouble with it.

I found that car on e-bay a few months back for $5000 I believe, but the CNG scared me off on top of it being damaged on passenger side so I passed. Glad its getting TLC it deserves.
