Okay, My Mama was in an accident yada,yada,yada-y'all are tired of hearing that story...Progressive is going to cover their insured (19 yo girl in 1995 Town Car). The adjuster types in all the data and says $2779.00. She says that the Progressive policy authorizes the use of "quality remanufactured" parts- what does that mean? Is it the same as OEM? Does it mean used?

MIB:
Remanufactured means: "taken back to the place of manufacture, disassembled, cleaned, inspected, out-of-spec parts replaced, then re-assembled" (more or less). It can't be sold as "new", but is generally just as good. I've always thought "remanufactured" applied to things like water pumps, alternators, calipers, etc...I've never heard of reman body parts...hopefully that's just a blanket statement...

RF-
You are correct, Sir:up: I just got off the phone with the body shop guy and that's a valid definition.
I have heard of restamped panels, very rarely though.
I have actually had the experience that the reman'd parts outlive the all-new more the just sometimes. Kinda like getting parts that have been given the TWICE over. I have had many more all-new die than I have had re-man'd parts die.

I'm hoping that your experience with the Progressive folks is as good as mine was. They reccommended me to the Lincoln Mercury Dealer, paid promptly, and even questioned me after I picked up the car to assure it was fixed to my satisfaction. They also will garuntee (sic) the parts and workmanship for as long as you own the car, provided you use one of their refered repairers. I was very pleased, and will continue to do business with them, even if it costs a few dollars more a year.

What did you get in diminished value? Mine was hit from behind and has more damage than yours so I am curious what you got (if you do not mind).
My car is getting new Ford parts only .... rear quarter, trunk, bumper, etc.
Hope your car is better than new once it is finished. And, I am glad to hear the news about Progressive as they insure me. My body shop was not very complimentary of Progressive and the use of 'remanufactured parts'.

I don't know yet, Bob. I posted looking for some advice before I broached the subject with the adjuster. I don't even know how much to ask for. Suggestions?

Progressive paid for new parts for me, even wheel, which got a little scrape on it.

At any rate, to garuntee work, they have to use quality parts, especially with Marauders, these aren't really throw-away cars, and they know it.

I went to the used car manager at Team Ford. He guessed a percentage based on what we told him about the damage. Then I called the adjuster to discuss it with him. He was defensive, but he basically said that I would get an amount that would be determined after the car was repaired using a set of tables that he has that were developed by Geico.
I am assuming that I will get a couple of thousand dollars but I do not know what the final amount will be.
It might be a good idea to discuss it with your adjuster so that Progressive knows you will be expecting a cash amount to cover 'diminished value'.
Keep me posted and I will do the same for you.

Make sure the use ONLY genuine Ford parts. IMO the ins company was talking about aftermarket parts. Good luck with the repairs.
