The owners manual has the specs for the battery. Make sure the new one meets or exceeds those specs.

YES.. ^^^^^ I like exceeding SPEC on batteries. I like to get as many Cold Cranking Amps as I can--I just bought one--And found a Big 850CCA in all Black--s so it looks nice underhood!
It was +$20... but this is one area where soending the extra cash usually saves $$ a few times over the next 4-7 years.

With batteries, bigger is not always better.
To make more power in the same physical size, the plates have to be thinner. This makes them more susceptible to warping from heat and damage from vibration. Unless you NEED more CCA for some unusual reason, the manufacturer's spec is more than enough.

Optima batteries are tough to kill. You can drain them to nothing and charge them again and they run like new. I've killed quite a few conventional batteries by completely discharging them before.

Purchase and install a Ford Motorcraft BXT-65-850, it is an "upgrade" vs. the stock supplied battery and fits the battery tray perfectly Panther  .

I would get the Optima Yellow top, Interstate, and or a Motorcraft in that order. Honestly, the Motorcraft is great battery for the price, but if you have the extra bucks buy an Optima.....

For reference, I paid $109 for a stock-size Motorcraft from the local dealer. It was actually less expensive than the equivalent offerings from VatoZone or Advance. No-brainer here.
