put down 424hp /427tq with the OEM pump on a BAP years ago... pump is on its way out.
OEM replacement @ $259 with BAP as currently setup or Aeromotive Stealth 340 (11142) without use of BAP hopefully...
Thoughts?
Leaning towards the Aeromotive as I just don't like the idea of the BAP setups...
OEM pump is failing so needs replacement, squeals on start up and won't respond to provide fuel, getting massive lean excursions. New fuel filter already installed FYI.

Aeromotive with upgraded heavy gauge wire and you will be fine.

From what I read the upgraded wire isn't a requirement but is suggested.
Is there any instructions on this wire upgrade or should I leave this to the tuner discretion?
Family owns a car repair shop so we will do the pump install.

The whole point of upgrading the wire to a heavier gauge is so it can meet the demand of the higher amperage most aftermarket performance pumps will draw, you dont want to find out the hard way you should have upgraded.

Yep I got ya on the higher amperage. I just didn't expect that the pump would draw that much amperage, I have used these as lift pumps to feed engines on dyno's before, they only started drawing large current above 60 psi, however I have never run one in a true in car application so I may be wrong.
Its the wire that feeds power to the FPDM and then wires to the fuel pump correct? I used google and found a few mustang write ups. Thanks!
More input more input?!!?
I am sure its Aeromotive all the way!

Do you have a H.P. goal in mind?

A retune / update @ 424hp would be lovely.
No plans to go higher on this car.

Ok cool, the Aeromotive should be perfect for you, keep us posted on your results.

Upgraded wire, think of it as you would a back up parachute. You hope you never need it but if you do a small price ($$) that will save you. :)

Would this be a good time to pick up a modified FPDM? Can I risk a bit more current with the FPDM being not being modified?

Yes definetly! more current thru the oem fpdm is what sends it into thermal shutdown! again not something you want to happen while your enjoying a little blower whine:mad2:

Whats the story behind the SVT FOCUS pump? cheaper? more reliable?
I do like a direct swap no tune required... still going to dyno soon anyways. I do not plan on doing much else to this car as I don't want to build the motor.

Didnt think it was still availible, cant say i know much about it, or the gt pump.

Maybe... I've been thinking this may have been why my car wouldn't start for a little bit at the track last Saturday after a few runs. I have the 340lph with wiring upgrade and a BAP.

List...
1) Wiring upgrade
2) FPDM Upgrade
3) Aeromotive pump
4) Install...
Hmmm that OE replacement is looking tempting... worked for 6 years after the final tune, 8 years in total.

Is this wiring & FPDM upgrade a definite when using the aeromotive 340 pump?

I use a Stryker 340 pump http://www.svtperformance.com/forums/lethal-performance-315/792759-divisionx-stryker-340lph-fuel-pumps-now-available.html
and I recently had a problem with thermal shut down (118 degrees out here).
A modified FPDM is a must.
I ordered one off a guy and it was DOA, I had to order another but now all is good.
The Stryker is E85 compatible and made to work with a return less system's varying voltage to the pump.

Where can this be ordered? I need to check into this. This procharger install keeps getting more expensive as it goes.
Edit: I do have a boost-a-pump that Dom gave me as well.

No wiring upgrades nor upgraded FPDM here with an Aeromotive 340 and BAP with plenty of miles and zero issues.

The higher the IAC temps the more the PCM increases fuel pressure. My car was fine until I got stuck at a very long light a couple of weeks ago in very hot weather. As the IAT got to about 130 I felt my car idling rough and I watched my fuel pressure starting to drop until it got so low the engine died. Of course at this time the traffic light turned green.
I waited about 2 min and it restarted with full fuel pressure. I made it home and pulled into my garage and let it idle while watching IAT temps, and sure enough when it got to 130 I felt it getting rough and watched the fuel pressure dropping until it stalled.
I put a modified FPDM in and ran the same test, I let it idle in the heat until about 138 degrees with no problem.
Until that super hot day with a extended idle I never had a problem.

From everything I have read over the years upgrades to fuel system for S/C applications that are highly recommended .
Wire upgrade
fuel pump of choice
boost a pump
FPDM
