My MM seems to over heat, only when I turn the AC on. It was recommended that I get a new radiator and fan. I would like to know has anyone else had this problem, and if so, is there a cheaper fix than buying the items mentions?

What are your mods and is your fan turning on?

Have you burped the system?

You may have trapped air in the system. Like ^^^^ said try burping the system at the cross over pipe first to see if trapped air is the issue. Could also be a slow or partially stuck T-stat. I would investigate these two issues first before committing to a new radiator.

What they said. Have yet to see a thread about anybody replacing a radiator do to failure. Not saying it couldn't happen, just about everything has been covered throughout the history of this site.

The mods I have are a forged engine purchased from board bro NTD. Kooks headers, new exhaust, and tune from Lidio. All work was done at Alternative Automotive, and burping of the system was done also.

Yeah those 2 things are stock. But just about everything else under the hood is new. Told him to replace anything that looks like a probkem. The fan still runs well with no problem. It just when I turn on that A/C

No, I've owned my DTR since 04, bought it brand new. But I purchased a engine from him which was listed on this board

The a/c works by removing heat and that heat unfortuantely is put on the radiator. When you start your car with the a/c on check under the hood and see if the fan is on, it should be on when ever the a/c is on.
If the fan is on the next thing is as stated above, air in the system. Was the coolant changed prior to the high temp condition?

Overheating cause the failure of the stock engine, I think. (popped a head), so going into shop, the problem was already there I guess. But the fan worked just fine once out of the shop. And I don't know if coolants were changed, but everything under the hood was changed just about so I can't see why not

^^^^^ What he said. Air in the system can be a pesky problem. Read through the info in the link, follow the procedure, and that may solve your problems.

This statement is meaningless - ".... everything under the hood was changed just about so I can't see why not.."
The more details you give us the more we can help you.
