I bought a headlight from Ford, and the seal on the back seems different. On the current light a plastic cap locks on with a gasket. On the new one there are no tabs, just a indented ring that looks like maybe a rubber cap would go over it instead. Anyone else experience this/have a part number for a different cap?

I noticed this when I changed my headlights out also. I thought it was pretty strange. The new one ones just have a rubber cap on them. They are both OEM parts so they must have changed sometime after 03 I have an early model and they had the plastic cap with the gasket.

03 car came with the plastic seal, 04 had the rubber seal. After 04, all panther lights had the rubber seal I believe.

That's what I figured, and of course the lamps didn't come with caps and dealer parts dept. is closed on Sat. :-(

2004's have the new style light housings that use the rubber boot. 2003's are the twit on style.

The part number is 4S4Z-13N019-AA, runs about $7-8 retail. It fits a bunch of Fords, F-150's, Expedition, Focus, Taurus and such.

Usually the parts guy is supposed to tell you to get the new boot if you order for a 2003.
